EVIDENCE BASED NURSING RESEARCH 1 Introduction The assignment brings about the discussion on the clinical situation in context to any of the cases such as higher incidence of falls, infections, or errors in a health setting. Clinical situation of the incidence of falls in Elderly Higher incidence of falls The term higher incidence of falls refers to as the most common and often overlooked cause of the injury in the individuals, especially in the people with old age. Thus, falls are considered to be the one of the factor behind the occurrence of fatal and non-fatal injuries to the elderly, leading to a larger impact on the quality of life (Adhiyaman et al., 2017). It can be described through the clinical situation where I was concerned, about my grandmother as she was suffering from the impairments which included poor vision and muscle weakness. This problem got worst in her later years, leading to the chronic condition of higher incidence of falls. It was identified that in her case, the most falls occurred during night between the time periods 9pm to 7am, as she wakes up usually to use washroom. However, when she was asked by the doctors about the frequency of her falls, she told that she describes falling more than 3 times in the past six months. Then the decisions were taken using the advices of expert or health professionals or doctors in the hospitals, to admit her for the acute care/long-term care to treat her with the interventions such as exercise, medication review, and providing supplements of vitamin D. Thus, health professionals and the family members were more supportive towards taking care of her so that she could easily recover from the problem of high incidence of falling (Ambrose, Cruz and Paul, 2015). Conclusion To conclude the above discussion it can be stated that the clinical case situation has described well about the incidence of falls in the elderly people.
