INTRODUCTION
The Microsoft office is an integrated package of various tools such as Microsoft word,
power point, access, excel and access (Ali, 2020). There are different tasks of each type of
application. The Microsoft word is used to enter the test, its editing, modification and formatting.
The power point presentation is used to create the slides. The Microsoft excel is a spreadsheet
tool which helps in performing complex calculations and there are various applications of ms
excel. It is used in storing the large volume of data and helps in taking various decisions of the
organisation. This report includes the data about google, it is an American multinational
technology that specializes in internet related services and products. It includes search engine,
online advertising technologies, cloud computing software. The raw data related to market
capitalisation, revenue and number of users is included in this report. The various functions of
excel such as minimum, maximum, sum and count are included. The descriptive statistics such
as mean, median and mode of data is also included.
Main Body
1. Select one of the research topic from the list provided.
In the following case company selected is Google. The research is about the finding on
various aspects such as market capitalisation of google, users of google and revenue earned by
the company. Explaining the research topic of McDonald's.
The research topic for the report is MC Donald. It will include that whether the technology helps
in improving the performance of business. There are different role of technology in business
such as: every organisation has to maintain the optimum level of inventory. There should not be
condition of stock out and stock pile. The condition of stock out will decline the reputation and
stock pile will unnecessarily increase the carrying cost. For effectively managing these resources,
there are various software such as it inventory management which helps in allocating resources
properly (Canesche, 2021).
Extracting data about market capitalisation, revenue and number of employees.
Data : It is a raw facts and figures which are necessary to extract the meaningful
information about various aspects. The data can be collected in many forms:
Document Page
1. Primary data : This form of data is first hand and require various times and efforts. The
examples of primary form of data are survey, questionnaire and interviews. The
advantages of primary form of data can be explained as given below:
Authenticity : It is collected newly the researcher so there are less chances of error. The
data is accurate (Dong, Tian and Chen, 2018).
Updated information : The information is updated because the data is collected newly by
the respondents. The manipulation of data is not possible in primary form of data.
The disadvantages of primary form of data can be described as given below:
Subjectivity : In primary form of data, there are chances of bias. There are differences in
the attitude of researcher and opinion which will lead to the inaccuracy of the data.
2. Secondary data : This form of data is readily available by the researchers. The sources of
secondary form of data are books, journals, magazines, websites and newspaper. There
are various advantages of secondary form of data such as :
Time saving : In secondary form of data, the time required for investigation by the
researcher is very less. In this case, the researcher will be able to promptly frame the
reports.
Inexpensive : The data collected through secondary sources are available at every low
cost and no additional expenses are required to undertake (Dreher, 2018).
Easy access : The access to the secondary form of data is very easy and it is available in
libraries. Now a days, the data is available on a single click by the use of internet.
There are several disadvantages of secondary form of data which can be elaborated as given
below:
Data quality : The quality of data in secondary is not up to the mark because it is already
used and may not be accurate. The validity of the data is hampered in this form.
2. Collect data of Google and sample.

4. Briefly explain and analyse the data collected.
Mean: It can be defined as a method which helps to calculate average of a data set given
by a company, business, organisation. It can be computed by dividing sum of observation
by total no of observation. Thus in above case mean calculated for 7 years of Google
company resulted as 745 in Market capitalisation. It resulted 144.371 in proceeding of
revenue section and in computation of number of users it recorded to be 3887.859. Thus
it can be concluded that on an average what amount of users are linked and associated
with the company after taking in account the fluctuations as well. The data collected is
from year 2015 – 2021. Thus it would be helpful to interpret a complex and complicated
data after performing its sorting of information and ascertaining its average through
simple and easy tools (Grove and Gray, 2018).
Formula of mean: Sum of observation/ Total no. of observation
Median: It can be explained as calculation of Mid value at the time of sorting data from
lower to higher digits. It is helpful to determine mid points and patterns when the
information collected has distorted amount. Median computed for above data is recorded
as 720 for a time span of straight 7 years in case of Market capitalisation whereas in case
of Revenue it resulted as 136.36 and number of users reflected a figure of 3956.7462.
Formula of median in even series: N/2
Formula of median in odd series: N+1/2
Revenue: The term itself defines the monetary value generated from business related
operational activities and computation of averages price of sales. It is also defined Sales
on Income statement (Kiss-Leizer and Rigó, 2019). It serves as a tool fir measuring
efficiency and effectiveness of a organisation's sale and marketing whereas fund flow is
considered a liquidity indicator. It can be calculated with the help of formula as under:
R = Price of goods or services * no of units sold or no. of consumers
Interpretation: From the above data it can be interpreted that Market capitalisation has
fluctuated at a larger scale as observed in the information given . It increased from 375 to
530 in year 2016 then it took a slight increase by rising upwards with a amount of $30. It
kept on increasing at a rapid rate till year 2019 and in year it declined till 745 but sooner
in next year it again got the grip and began to rise till a figure of 1425. In area of revenue

the company can be seen to have a rising scale from start. It increased from 74.54 to
89.98 then it again took a rise in scale till 110.55 and kept on increasing up to the year of
2021 which resulted as 256.74. A huge difference of 182.2 has been recorded from year
2015 up to 2021. Number of users engaged with Google company has been recorded to
increase from 2759.3998 in year 2015 to 3363.7296 in 2016. It further has increased till a
count of 4738.1388 till year 2021 which can be because of the reason of improvement in
efficient y and effectiveness in working of business.
SUM: The command of SUM is helpful in summation of total values present in data set.
Such functions can be carried out and performed by prefixing the sign “=” and choosing
the rows for which the sum command is demanded. The sum of market capitalisation rate
is reflected as 5215, in reaction of Revenue it has been recorded as 1010.6 and in case of
number of users engaged with Google company it shows a result of 27215.0133
(Mbanyele, 2022).
MAXIMUM: The function such as MAXIMUM is helpful to search the highest value or
figure from the total recorded observation. The maximum count of market capitalisation
is and in case of revenue is 256.74. The highest number of users is seen to be 4738.1388.
It can be computed by formula =max().
MINIMUM: The command such as MINIMUM would be helpful in giving and reflecting
smallest digit from total data set series prepared by the company. The function such as
minimum is implemented by a formula such as =MIN(). The least counted value for
market capitalisation is 375. In section of revenue lowest value observed is 74.54.
Whereas in case of users is recorded to be 2759.3998.
COUNT: The function of COUNT is useful for calculating the total no of observation and
it is considered as a necessary command of excel (Newell and Marzuki, 2018). The total
number of observance in relation with revenue, number of users, market capitalisation is
recorded as seven. The formula used for count can be applied through =count (no. of cells
for which the count is needed)
CONCLUSION
From the above report, it can be concluded that ms excel is an application software which
eases the various researchers to reduce the workload and tasks. The typical calculations can be

performed in less time. The organisation taken for this report is google, the market capitalisation,
revenue and number of users are included. The various functions of excel such as Sum , min,
max and count is used to take several decisions. When data is presented in the form of charts,
tables and figures, the decisions are made for improving the financial performance of the
enterprise.
