INTRODUCTION
Microsoft Excel is a piece of Microsoft Office software that can be used to do many
calculations on data sets that have been imported or inputted into it. Not only does MS Office
include Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, which are the most commonly used office applications
in today's globe. Microsoft office application software includes a variety of programmes such as
Microsoft Windows, Excel, and Access (Mayes, 2020). Microsoft Excel allows a company to
perform huge and sophisticated calculations that would be impossible to do manually or with any
other programme. This paper demonstrates excel competence via the use of a case study on
McDonald's, a well-known American food behemoth with locations all over the world and a
reputation for its hamburger. McDonald's data was used in this report to run excel calculations,
and at the end of the study, various suggestions and interpretations were made utilising graphs
and charts. The information pertains to the American group's sales performance from 2015 to
2021 in order to determine its market capitalization. Statistical procedures such as mean, median,
and mode calculations have been done on the basis of such data.
MAIN BODY
McDonald's is the subject of the research.
The case study is one of the topics that McDonalds is considering, and their performance
has been analysed based on technology, the changing world, and competition. The market
capitalization, revenue, and number of workers held by the company between 2015 and 2021
were utilised in the computation, and the data was collected across all of their branches.

Interpretation and Findings on the results
Microsoft Excel is a sophisticated programme for doing mathematical calculations ranging from
simple to complicated, depending on the data supplied (Albright, and Fox, 2019). Microsoft
Excel is a spreadsheet programme that may be used to do a variety of computations. This
spreadsheet is used not only for mathematical calculations, but also for accounting, management,
stock financial analysis, employee time and task management, and so on. It also has a number of
functions that aid in the sorting of vast amounts of data in an organisation using sort and filter
choices.
Sum: The sum formula was used to sum the amount of entries in under a second, which
would normally take a long time if done manually or with a calculator (Asiddao, and
et.al., 2020). There are a multitude of functions in Microsoft Excel that assist in
conducting various arithmetic computations. The Sum Function assists in calculating the
sum of all the provided values. It is possible to use it by choosing the entire row (Jensen,
Frank, and Wisser, 2018). By entering the symbol (=) and dragging the row until the total
of values is necessary, the sum formula may be implemented. In the case of McDonald's,
the market capitalisation totals $989.28. McDonald's has a total income of 156.67 and
employs 184000 people.
Count: The count is a statistical function in Excel that is used to determine the number of
data observations. This function may also be used simply dragging the rows till the

Count: The count is a statistical function in Excel that is used to determine the number of
data observations. This function may also be used simply dragging the rows till the
desired number of observations is reached. According to McDonald's data, the company's
market capitalization, revenue, and staff count total seven. It is the same in each of the
three variables.
Maximum: This Ms-excel function is used to generate the highest value from all of the
occurrences in the series (Bochelenkova, V.M., 2018.) . It is used by placing the equal
symbol (=) and entering the function's name. If the market capitalisation rate is 200.31,
the maximum value is 200.31, and the maximum revenue is 25.41. The total number of
employees is limited at 420000. Graphs that illustrate the pictorial depiction of the
provided data may also be constructed.
Minimum: The minimal function returns the value that is the smallest. McDonald's has a
market capitalization of 101.08 dollars. The lowest revenue and employee numbers are
18.86 and 195000, respectively. = min () can be used to apply this function, with the
range of cells supplied in brackets.
Mean: The mean is the average value of the data collection in question. The mean is a
measure of central tendency that is calculated by multiplying all of the input values by
the number of observations (Bellido-Montesinos, and et.al., 2019). The average market
capitalisation rate is 141.3257143, the average revenue is 22.3814, and the average
employee count is 262857.1429. Extreme values have an influence on it, and it's useful
for further algebraic treatment.
Median: The median is the value in the data set that is in the middle. In the event of odd
and even observations, it can be calculated differently (Gokyay, 2020). When the number
of observations is even, the n+1/2 formula is used, and when the number of observations
is odd, the n/2 formula is used. McDonald's median market capitalisation rate is 137.21,
and its median revenue is 22.82. The midpoint for staff numbers is 21000.
CONCLUSION
The preceding report comprises of an excel competency test performed on the raw data
acquired from the McDonald case study. The data was then entered into an excel spreadsheet so
that data manipulation, graphical representation, and statistical tools, as well as graphing, could
be applied to it. According to the aforementioned research, Microsoft Excel is an application
programme that facilitates work by executing complicated calculations in a short amount of time.
