There are series of issues facing business today. However, as a student studying diploma
in business information system, the problem that is against human dignity and the common good
is the act of making excessive profits. The Catholic Social Thoughts elaborates what God needs
everyone to do as a sign of respect to the Almighty High according to Brady, (2017). In every
society, there exist the rich and the poor. Consequently, the fact that some people are less
fortunate should not give others license to exploit them. In this opinion, it is going to elaborate
on how to apply the principle of human dignity and the common good to solve the issue of
excessive profits in the business arena. Even though now I am a student, in the coming days I
would to join the business world and venture in several sectors. However, it will be good if there
is no issue or the mindset of exploiting the consumers for higher profits.
As an aspect of Catholic Social Thought, human dignity teaches every individual in the
society, maintain integrity and respect fellow human beings according to Massaro, (2015). The
act of increasing the prices of goods with the aim of getting excess profits to show that one lacks
integrity and do not respect what God requires him or her to do in reference to Thompson,
(2015). Making profits is not bad because that is the aim of every business. However, there
should a limit to which the industry can make. As a student studying business information
system, there are ways to address the problem and restore the sense of human dignity in the
society. The first step to solve the issue is to have a regulatory system for all businesses in the
market. In today’s world technology controls several sectors. Checking the price of every good is
straightforward. For instance, the government can register all the business in a given industry and
the costs of their products. If upon one business person tries to exploit, they are easily spotted.
The second approach is to inform the consumers about the specific prices of commodities. Many
