Explain post 16 options for young people and adults In recent times, UKgovernment has developed a plan to make changes in reducing number of young people in education. For that they have provided various options for secondary level education to children above age of 16. This allows them to go for various streams. The aim is to provide full time education to them and some earnings as well. Also, to gain their knowledge for further education. So, as per education and skills act 2008 some changes are been made in it. in that there are various options available that are full time educationat school or college. They are both at A level. Besides that, apprenticeship and traineeship or in it part time education to them in which there is minimum 20 hoursper week voluntary employment given. It has been identified that there are different options for children after age 16 in education. In this example of A level postisBTEC qualification,academic course such as engineering, biotech, etc. Similarly, example of vocational qualification is as follows : Vocational subject the subjects such as business, social care, health etc are included in it. Courses - they are accounting, plumbing, cookery etc. which is offered by colleges. Apprenticeship-in this there is training provided along with education. It can be related to internship, contract basis, etc. so, in this options available are trainee, executive etc that allows in offering employment for short time period. Here, in apprenticeship there are some example available that is having experience of 1-2 years in education or job. The BTEC students is get mixed with practical and theory.Also, they are having some experiencein itand studies in college. Besides that they can take part in apprenticeshipof 2 years as well. it allows in selecting both education andacademic profession in it. besides that, gaining of knowledge allow them to pursuefor further education. The new professionaland academic course is started to increase their motivation level. Therefore, these options are available for adults and young people. They can pursue education along with employment. However, professional course can be learned and vocational subject as well. There are ways in which things are done in proper way. UK government wants to provide flexibility to those who want to learn and practice professional course. But they do not get time for it. thus, change in made in education act and various 16 post options are provided to them. With that employment opportunity has arise in different fields and adults are getting 3
apprenticeship in that. They are able to progress in their field and learn courses as well. however, after 16 they are having varied options to choose from. in that there are various options available that are full time education at school or college. Thus, from 3 choices they can select any one of them and continue their education in future by learning some experience and training as well. 4
