Part 2: Creative Responses

Pencil 1
In the first continuous line drawing the artwork is used to show the
inner workings of the mind. It appropriately depicts the way
human mind understand and stores information.

Pencil 2
In the second image hatching technique is used to make the image more lifelike. Here the image is created in response to
idea that understanding and creating information is complex activity and individuals use the information from outside to
complete their self-identity and complete themselves. Absence of complete information leads to incomprehension and
meaninglessness through which divided identity is formed as shown in the pencil sketch.

Pen 1
The first pen drawing is completed trough hatching and depicts the ways in which human
understanding can reach beyond universe to visualize outer space concepts. This is an accurate
display of human mind's limitless understanding and retention.

Pen 2
The seconded image is based on the idea that human mind usually understands and retains
positive thoughts and information for longer time. This is depicted by the flowers and
greenery drawn on the place of human mind. It is inspired from similar kind of digital
art.

The first collage is used to represent the ways in which mind interprets the outside world and constructs meaning. Here sketch of a mind
is created and after which the collage is formed about constructing meaning. I was inspired to draw this image through the digital image
of individual thinking about their cleaning work.

The second collage focuses on the concept of creativity and the way or mind is able
to develop original and creative ideas by understanding and retaining information. It
is in response to the image from the concept of imagination.

Photography 1
The first photograph depicts an individual thinking and I
have used the old image filter to make the image look
vintage. This photography trick is used in response to the
concept of analytical thinking

The seconded photography used in this portfolio is created in order to showcases learning and understanding of
individuals. Here black and white and colour version are used as a symbol for different stages of learning. It is
made in response to the concept of using technology such as laptop to learn and understand new areas.

The first painting created is based on the idea of individuals using mind to comprehend
meaning and understand information on own. It in response to the image from concept of
brain processing information.

Artist Research 1
• Tete d'une Femme Lisant which is translated to head of a woman reading is
one of my favourite art pieces, It was created by Pablo Picasso in the year
1953 and depicts different ideas which have been interpreted by art
researchers.
• I was attracted to this specific painting because it has multiple meanings.
For example the division between the face of the subject and usage of
contrasting colours can depict the idea of individuals being two faced. It is
also interpreted that the painting can be related to the characters of Macbeth
because it showcases sinister nature.
• It was also a part of the cubism art moment. In this art moment flat two
dimensional pictures were created rejecting traditional ideas about art and
perspective.

Artist Research 2
• The seconded artist I have selected for this project is the painting of Saint
Jerome created by Caravaggio. It depicts Saint Jerome writing and was
created in the year 1605-1606.
• I was attracted to this painting because of its illusionistic representation of
still life. Caravaggio depicts Saint Jerome as a scholar which was
unconventional at the time. It is my favourite artwork because of its strong
subject of depicting a saint as a scholar. I also like the painting because of
its usage of shadow to make the painting more realistic.
• The art moments which are associated with the painting are Chiaroscuro
and Renaissance. I believe that among the Renaissance artists Caravaggio
effectively utilized Chiaroscuro technique.
• Naturalism, Classical Humanism, perspective drawing, and the
development of oil painting were key elements in the art of the Italian
Renaissance.
