INTRODUCTION A nanny is an individual, who administer child care. The care is given within the family setting of children. Various roles are played by a nanny for taking care of a child including their bathing, dipering, feeding etc. This report intents to explore the role of a nanny by taken into considerations various aspects like partnership working, barriers etc. TASK 1 1.1 Partnership working for Nanny Parents/Carers:A nanny work in partnership with parents by sharing the knowledge and information to parents transparently regarding what happen when their child is in care of nanny. A nanny should make the parents inform about day of their child. Extended family members:While working in partnership with the extended family members, a nanny should have team mentality. They must working alongside families as a member of team in order to ensure that children receive best care and upbringing as possible(Burke, 2015). Friends of family:A nanny must maintain good working relations with friends of family and work in partnership with them so that if in case, parents are not available in any situation, nanny can share information of child to friends of family in order to get support in providing adequate care. Otherprofessionals:Theotherprofessionalswithwhomanannymayworkin partnership includes doctors and educators. Nannies share all the information of child to doctors and educators regarding any health illness. 1.2 Barriers to partnership working and ways to overcome them There are various barriers that a nanny may face while working in partnership with family, parents, friends of family and other professionals. These barriers includes: Time constraints:Sometimes, a nanny may not work extra hours due to her personal reasons. This creates clashes with parents that may act as a barrier in partnership working. In order to overcome this, parents and family must requires to understand that sometimes it may not be possible to nanny to work for extra hours (Flaskerud, 2014). 1

The primary role of live in nanny is care of children. They are the sole charge of children and doing all their works including washing, keeping their room tidy, cooking for children as well as perform all the nursery duties. Live out nanny:Live out nanny is an individual who specialises in rendering child care for family, instead of living in individual's home as live in nanny, death comes to care for child during set hours in the week. Live out nanny administer intellectual, social and emotional support to children. The role of live out nanny involves all aspects of caring for children including companionship, meals, play, activities and clothing needs(Haider- Markel and Joslyn, 2018).Their household responsibilities are associated with care of children. 2
Shared care nanny:The nanny who is engaged in providing children care services to two families simultaneously is termed as shared care nanny. Take care of both children in home of 1 of the family. Typical nanny duties are carried out by a shade nanny, but the duties associated with nursery will be limited to the family where she is based. Nanny's roles includes bathing and dressing, developing safe environment for children, arranging play dates and outings etc. 2.2 Skills, behaviours and attributes required in role of Nanny Skills:The skills required to fulfil role of a nanny includes strong verbal communication, patience, creativity, cooking and nutrition, first aid, problem solving, household duties. All these skills required to have in a nanny to provide care to a child appropriately. A nanny has to spend many hours with children which requires them to have patience to handle their behaviour and mood swings without losing her temper. Apart from this, for making and keeping the kids happy, a nanny required to have creativity to plan games and outing(Hoek, 2015). Attributes:Some of the attributesthat a nanny must have to fulfill the roles and responsibilities of a nanny appropriately includes proactive, self motivated, trustworthy etc. When it comes to safety, discipline and mitigating the needs of children, nannies should be proactive instead of reactive. Moreover, As the parents rely on nanny to mitigate the terms of their work relationship, nannies must be trustworthy to perform their job well and give outstanding care. Behaviours:A nanny required to have some behaviours when working with children. Humble and kind behaviour of a nanny help in teaching children regarding kindness and charity and they learn politeness and humility from such behaviour of a nanny. Moreover, a nanny must be confident to provide children with safe and secure environment. 2.3 Daily care responsibilities of nanny for children 0 - 1 years of age group:The daily care responsibilities of a nanny for a newborn children includes their feeding, diapering, nap times, preparing bottles, bathing and dressing children, caring for child when they are sick, giving them medicines on time and ensure their general hygiene(Le Grand and New, 2015). Mixed age group:The duties of a nanny for mixed age group children includes cooking for children, organising their playdates, assisting with homework, doing their laundry, making 3
their bed, bathing and dressing them, help them with language acquisition, teaching them letters, colours and numbers, providing developmentally suitable educational games, helping them with general hygiene etc. 2.4 Advantages and challenges to role of nanny Advantages: The advantage of working in a role of a nanny is that the profession requires no degree and higher education. Nannies can get job by having only the skills of giving appropriate care to child. The another advantage is that they get guaranteed pay and overtime along with paid time off and holidays(Low and Goh, 2015). Disadvantages: The job of nanny is a mentally and physically a challenging job. Dealing with toddlers and babies is a big challenge for nannies as it requires love, dedication and tonnes of patience. The another challenge that a nanny may face includes putting own free time or personal life before the needs of parents. Saying no to extra work time or extra baby setting is very challenging. TASK 3 3.1 Role of nanny agency The role of nanny agency is to help placing good child care providers with families.Nanny agency plays effective role in registration of nannies. Using in agency provides biggest assurance to parents has it can offer them with certain safety features like checking the nanny thoroughly before they enable to register.Approaching nanny agency for hiring a nanny according to the need of client. The job is allocated to the nannies according to their abilities along with considerering needs of clients(Ng, 2015). For registration with any agency, nannies are required to sign the contract that includes information about starting date, job responsibilities, work site address, paid time off, compensation etc.In managing and maintaining relationships between client and nanny, nanny agency plays crucial role. 3.2 Ofsted registration process and implications The ofsted regulatory process includes publication of gradings and periodic inspection covering the service quality. In order to improve my problem solving skills, I will take participate in brainstorming activities, solve logic puzzles, participate in yoga and use mind map to assist visualise the problem(Souralová, 2014). Apart from this, I also need to work on my collaboration skills as for playing the role of a nanny successfully, I need to learn to collaborate with parents and other members and be a team player. For improving my collaboration skills, I will try to develop trust through my actions. I will also foster constant communication to improve my collaboration skills. 4.3 Sources of support for planning to become a nanny PACEY is one of the source can offer a nanny with support and guidance. It provides various advantages to a nanny interms of providing range of offers associated with free networking, advice and support from online community. Apart from this, jopining a professional organisation will also provides support to nanny as such organisations have wide array of resources are available that can assist to advance the carrer of nanny. Both these sources are helpful and useful as these supports in planning to become a nanny (Flaskerud, 2014). CONCLUSION As per the above mentioned report, it has been concluded that nanny plays a very crucial role in providing effective care to the children. Working in partnership with parents, family members, friends of family and other professionals will help in ensuring effective care to a children. 6
