EYLF FRAMEWORK1
At its grassroots, the process of early childhood education (ECE) upholds several
different forms of education, which are both informal and formal. Early childhood education
is provided to the children ageing from 3-8 year old. It is identified as the fundamental form
of education, responsible for the overall development of the child, and that can efficiently
build the later years of their life (Gordon & Browne, 2013). Moreover, early childhood
education provides opportunity for gathering new ideas and knowledge regarding future
learning processes. According to the research, the initial five years of the child is considered
as vital in their growth and educational wealth. There exist several framework and
methodology for improving the process of ECE; however, among all, the Early year learning
framework (EYLF) is considered to be the effective one. The fundamental principle of this
framework explains that childhood is the time of belonging, becoming and being
(Blackwell, Lauricella & Wartella, 2014). This essay is going to give a brief analysis of the
early year learning framework — the issues related to EYLF and necessary steps to overcome
the issues. Along with the state and national learning and teaching aspects of EYLF are going
to be discussed here.
According to the supplied Pedagogy (which explains the different method of
teaching), the teacher has taken a topic named “A very hungry Caterpillar” narrated by Eric
Carle. The model has provided three learning area and learning outcomes related to it. The
teacher has undertaken three important forms of educating the children, which are, drama,
dance and visual art. In first learning area, which is drama, the Pedagogy explains playing
different role and dramatic actions along with the use of facial expression, voice and
imaginary situation. Similarly, in dance the teacher aims to develop and improve the
fundamental movements and communication skills with the audience. Meanwhile, the visual
art will comprise the creation of artwork, techniques and different materials. Different from

the traditional learning methods, the above-discussed methods will drag the students’
attention towards the main subject.
The model has explained important learning procedures (for example, drama, dance,
visual artworks) which are efficient for engaging the young age students and provide them
higher motivation for future learning.
The EYLF is considered to be one vital element of the National Quality Framework
(NQF) that is designed to support and enhance early childhood care and education. The
Australian government initially established this framework for globalising and enhancing
their early childhood education (Davis & Elliott, 2014). The vision of EYLF is to provide
education and care to the young age children thereby building a precise future for them. The
main idea that lies behind the development of the discussed Early Years Learning Framework
was to make sure that, every child in the country will gather a qualitative educational
experience in the preschool or childcare as this time is the most suitable time for their brain
and overall development (Heikka, Waniganayake & Hujala 2013). This practice aims to
conduct an overall development of the student, by providing a strong sense of identity and
wellbeing, effective communication skill along with the confidence to connect with the
outside world (Black et al., 2017).
Pedagogy can be identified as one encompassing term that mainly focuses on the
activities undertaken by the teachers to influence the learning process. As, the recent era
understand the importance of quality early childhood education; therefore, focusing on the
educator’s or teacher’s activity, is vital (Huber et al., 2013). The practice of pedagogy
demands the effective and transparent understanding of the role of every individual educator
who is associated with the process of ECE. Furthermore, this process develops a wide range
of factors that involves the research evidence and theories, group and individual reflection,

evidence from past practice, political drivers and the experience of the expertise and
educators. In addition, the process of Pedagogy encompasses both curricula as well as
teaching as its service. However, the concept of early year’s pedagogy is one complicated
phenomenon that gathers a large number of activities undertaken by the principles acquired
by professional experience and training. The EYLF framework observes the concept of
Pedagogy as the professional practice of the educators, especially those practices that
encompasses the process of learning, teaching, decision making, curriculum and nurturing the
relationship (Ma et al., 2016).
Despite the fact that the early year learning framework is one effective framework for
modernizing the ECE; yet, some issues such as the socio-economic factors, financial
constraints, poor remuneration, high teacher-child ratio and insufficient learning resources act
as hurdles for the process.
Socio-economic factors: Usually, ill-health and malnutrition are the vital considerations
associated with socioeconomic factors. Children, going through the malnutrition and ill-
health may require special attention and instruction to learn several practices. In addition, the
regional disparities also play vital role in the smooth running of ECE, where the total
enrolment levels in marginalized as well as rural areas are less than the urban area.
Financial constraints: Financial constraints majorly affect the development of ECE.
Sometimes, in the urban areas, the financial factor related to the implementation and
conduction of the EYLF framework is higher, resulting in lack of admission and lowering the
popularity of this framework. As a result of which, the families bear higher responsibilities in
implementing early childhood learning programmes.
Higher child-teacher ratio and poor remuneration: Like every other learning and teaching
process, the ECE program also facing the issue of higher child-teacher ratio. In the digitally
