INTRODUCTIONEach and every business or organisation needs to develop effective change managementsystem to manage and sustain within the changing environment. Various changes in businessenvironment have a great impact on different activities, operations or functions of anorganisation. Health and social care organisations render significant health care services to theircustomers or patients. These organisations mainly focus on well-being of people of communityor society but there are various externals as well as internal forces along with the changes whichinfluence the overall services and performance of the organisation. The present report willdetermine various elements that drive changes in health and social care organisation. It will alsodiscuss changes in services provided by the organisations in healthcare sector. Furthermore, thereport will identify recent fluctuations or changes in Beacon Edge Care Home in relation to itsCare Quality Commission (CQC) report. TASK 1: Understand the factors that drive change in health and social careservices1.1 Key factors that drive change in health and social care servicesThere are various changes in both external and internal environments which affectbusiness functions or services of health and social care organisations such as Beacon Edge CareHome. According to Care Quality commission (CQC) report, it has been identified that theorganisation has various issues and problems related to their organisational environment,registration of manager, poor management of services and staffs, lack of communication, etc(Brett, Staniszewska and Mockford, 2014). There are various factors which can drive changes inhealth and social care services can be described as below - Political – Political factors have a great significance and impact on the change in healthand social care organisation. These organisations are concerned about stability of industryor country, regulations, ethics, economic and government policies related to healthcareservices in a country.Economical – These are the factors which are linked with economic stability andcondition of a country. The economic factors include spending capacity of companies,number of employees, profitability, etc. Economic condition of a country involvesinvestment power, demand of goods and services, exchange rate of currency, etc. The1

economic factors play a major role in effective functioning of business functions andoperations. Any changes in these factors greatly affect health and social care serviceprovided to the people (Davis, Campbell, Hildon and Hobbs, 2017). Sociological changes – It consists social life style as well as demographic factors whichmay change the perception related to the needs of people along with their expectation forthe provision of utilising services. Changes in lifestyle and needs of people influencehealth and social care organisations to alter their products and services as well. Technological factors – Technological factors refers to the technical areas in the businessenvironment affecting functioning of business or organisations. The technological factorsinclude communication, transportation, software, machines and other technologies usedin an organisation. The introduction of new technologies in health and social careorganisations helps to provide more effective and efficient care services to the people.Therefore, it influences the healthcare organisation to make important changes related totechnology (Edwards, Wood and Edward, 2015).The above mentioned factors greatly affect healthcare organisations to make significantchanges in their business structure, system and functions to provide improved and effectiveservices to their patients. 1.2 & M1 Challenges that key factors of change bring to health and social care servicesThe major factors discussed above includes various external factors which affect theinternal environment of the health care organization and influence them to make significantchanges in the business system, and functions. Beacon Edge Care Home faces various challengesdue to these changes as it is important for overcoming them for sustaining their position andproviding effective healthcare services to the people. It is necessary for the organisation toidentify significant changes within the business environment to make beneficial modifications intheir company or business functions. However, different changes such as innovation intechnology, fluctuating government and legal policies etc. can influence the entire functioning orsystem of healthcare organisations (Wylie, Knudson, Khan and Baral, 2016). Various challengesfaced by Beacon Edge Care Home due to different factors of change are as described below - Resource management – Due to change in business environment, technology andgovernment policies it is difficult for an organisation to manage its resources effectively.An organisation to needs to plan and redesign its business activities, operations, services2
