Introduction
Facilities management in the hospitality industry is an essential aspect, which creates
an enjoyable experience for the customers. Managing facilities with the help of glitch-free
equipment help to increase productivity in the workplace and manage the health and safety of
employees and customers properly. Facilities can be managed properly by setting appropriate
standards regarding health and safety and managing change in the organization. This, in turn,
can help to gain sustainability and competitive advantage. In this report, the importance of
best practices, benchmarking and sustainability has been assessed properly along with an
evaluation of the essentiality of people management. A case study of the green key labeled
hotel is also done in this study.

Different strategies are there that can help to benchmark facilities management
successfully. As opined by James, Miles, Nelson, Sledge & Colakoglu (2011), these
strategies include measurement of performance, ensuring continuous improvement, cost
centers, managing service levels, proper planning, and others. Organizations focus on KPIs to
measure the performance of their firm. Large hospitality organizations like Marriott may
consider KPI as an important indicator of their performance. On the other hand, Erdem &
Tetik (2013) have mentioned that budget is another appropriate tool that can help
organizations to benchmark facilities management.
Ensuring continuous improvement is another strategy that can help organizations of
the hospitality industry to benchmark facilities management. Firstly, all internal stakeholders
