Question 1.
In the late 19th century, farmers experienced various problems. To begin with,
agricultural prices fell terribly as a result of international competition and local overproduction.
In addition, the high rates charged by railroads as well as grain elevators to ship and store goods
that farmers had to buy made the goods more expensive. Therefore, the farmers were forced to
take loans to finance both their equipment and land hence keeping them in debt. Soon after the
civil war, the farmers formed an alliance that would secure legislation. The legislation would
regulate warehouse rates and railroad rates as well as bring an end to high tariffs. The solutions
were reasonable since farmers were able to stand out and increase productivity.
Question 2.
In the Gilded age, Government policies had both positive and negative impacts on the
Native American Cultures. On the positive impact, through government policies the native
Americans were offered land to own hence allowing them to farm as other farmers in the west.
This allowed them to profit from their produce. On the negative impact, the government policies
forced the Native Americans to assimilate to mainstream white America hence disregarding their
culture and values.
Question 3.
The American Imperial expansion was pushed forward by the industrialists’ fear that the
United States would produce more goods that it could consume. Therefore, the American leaders
began developing new attitudes in regards to imperialistic adventures abroad. Other leaders also
perceived that industries would need raw materials such as petroleum products and rubber,
among other materials that could not be found in America. I believe the American imperialism
