Fashion is referred to the popular trend and style that has constantly undergoing changes
and trends. The essay will intend to evaluate the aspects of fashion, the industry it caters to along
with the way fashion has influenced society and culture.
In recent times, fashion is generally related to apparels and accessories, in spite of being
associated with a broader concept, the aspect of fashion has been narrowed down to clothing,
fabric and accessories. The era, ideologies perceived by people and the cultural and intellectual
aspects in that age as well as within the region plays a significant role in providing impact on the
fashion style and development (Barnard, 2013). The fashion industry is renowned for making
several fashion statements. The industry further operates on the motive of being distinctive,
trendy and enduring seasonal changes of every year. Fashion to consumers is regarded as
different from the public or establishing statements with the utilization of clothing and
accessories, which sets the demarcations (Nenni, Giustiniano & Pirolo, 2013). However, the
intensive impact of fashion on society and culture must be taken into consideration. It must
further be noted that fashion and culture operates simultaneously. The accomplishment of

(McRobbie & Mcrobbie, 2013). Thus, the effect of fashion is evaluated by the factors of social
embracement whereby, it is determined by ambition that diminishes the space developed
between the affluent and the economically volatile segments when it comes to acceptance as well
as implementing fashion styles (Baer, 2016). For instance, the Arab national clothing signifies
pride and identity that has been further conceptualized with the dual intention of providing ease,
comfort and adherence to religious beliefs and ideologies (Barnard, 2013). As fashion is

aspect of social psychological phenomenon and further serve by means of establishing social
boundaries and limitations. Everything that seems trendy and stylish attracts public interest;
however, it becomes crucial for economically vulnerable people to afford it (Nenni, Giustiniano
& Pirolo, 2013).
The concept of fashion can hence be influenced and further manipulated by public
opinions. Cities namely Paris, New York, Milan, London, Tokyo have gained immense
recognition and are regarded as global fashion destinations. Fashion is often considered as
carriers of a broad array of ideological connotations (McRobbie & Mcrobbie, 2013). The
fashion trends illustrate a visual cultural notion and style of dressing that reflects the identity of a
consumer in a particular environment. The primary purpose of fashion relies on the expression of
the consumers’ characteristics in relation to their lifestyle preferences as well as their attitudes
(Barnard, 2013). Behavioural patterns and attitudes operating as a value-expressive purpose that
assists people to commune their central ideologies, behavioural patterns and beliefs to others
through their fashion styles that include stylish and trendy garments and accessories.
The idea of fashion in today’s world does not give primacy to comfort and expediency.
When a distinctive trend comes in vogue or implemented by renowned personalities it is
