Feminism has been increasing in the society with the broad concept and understanding of the
people. The changing mindset has been increasing feminism in the world. Feminism is
providing a new shape of mind to the population of the world which creates the different
concepts of feminism. The discussion and arguments related to the feminist’s pedagogy in
this essay provides a critical analysis of different concepts and opinion. The relationship
between the social theory and feminist pedagogy is considered in the arguments under this
essay which describes that whether the framework has changed the society in any manner or
not. The social theory is a practical approach which is the result of the feminist pedagogy
describing whether a new change in the society related to feminism has changed for a
positive. The discussion and arguments on the provided theories and approaches could be

About Feminist Pedagogy

approaches, methods and classroom arrangements to make students contribute to the learning
process. This theory teaches students to present their perceptions about any idea while
mutually respecting the contradictory idea at the same time. On the other hand (Martin,
2017), provided that basically this practice of teaching to accentuates the importance of
practical application of feminist theory. It differs from the traditional method of teaching in
terms of the participation of the teacher and students. It does not use the old one-way method
of teaching from teacher to students rather students are encouraged to voice their opinions,
ideas in a constructive environment. Feminist pedagogy is a tool to bring about the much-
needed change in society (Martin, 2017). It promoted equality which is the basic principle of
feminism. Students learn the skills of leadership without forcing their ideas on anyone.
Principles of Feminist Pedagogy

There are six important factors that identify the feminist pedagogy and its practical
application.
The relationship between the teacher and the student- First factor is the relationship
between the teacher and the student. As discussed above feminist pedagogy has the role of
teacher and students defined. Students are encouraged to share their personal views and
teachers help them to express their views without being disrespectful by creating a positive
atmosphere in the classroom which is free from oppression and dominance (Kark, 2016).
Students are taught the necessity of equality in the society that we live in.
Empowerment of individual’s- The second factor is the empowerment of individual’s .if we
want to bring the equality we need to empower the each and every individual of the
community. This can be achieved by letting people express their views and ideas about
anything without the fear of being judged.
Construct a community- Next factor is constructed a community small or large social unit is
to be built, which have the similar values or norms (Kark, 2016). Where all the members
participate equally towards same or mutually exclusive goals, all have the equal opportunity
as the other.
The privilege of voice- The fourth and an important factor is the privilege of voice. All the
members of the community can voice their opinions; share their personal view which
ultimately leads to the equality and growth of the society. In terms of the classroom by saying
out ideas aloud students will develop the ability to critically think. They will imbibe the idea
of freedom of expression. For this teachers have to be easily approachable and less
intimidating (Lamont, 2014). They will have to create a platform where students can speak
freely and perform their defined role and participate in the learning process.
Respect for different personal experiences- Another factor is respect for different personal
experiences among all students. It can help students broaden their thinking. Students will
learn to respect the thoughts of other students and teacher. Since the feminist pedagogy
emphasizes on learning by the experience and each student has had a different experience
than another one (Lamont, 2014). This methodology enables them to understand the diverse
background and enhance their critical thinking ability.

Challenging typical learning ideals - the Last factor that is to be discussed is challenging
typical learning ideas. This method confronts the traditional way of pedagogy. Each person
has its role defined (Lamont, 2014). It works on the reducing the social imbalance that is
prevalent in society.
Theories and approaches under Feminist Pedagogy
As per the discussion with (Giroux, 2018), The feminist theory or practice is a framework
which includes the different theories and approaches to explain and initiate feminist
pedagogy in the society. In the words of (Giroux, 2018), the theories are the ways and
manner in which the feminism has been initialised to be provided in the world or society. The
use of these theories depends on the person to person about how it works. The people define
their theoretical concept according to their cognitive understanding related to this concept.
The theories of feminist pedagogy are basically the teaching theories which include the
different studies which help to communicate the information to the world.
On the other hand (Diller, 2018), argues that the feminist theory is the extension of feminism
into theoretical, fictional and philosophical disclosure. The aim of the feminist pedagogy is to
develop the understanding of gender inequality among the people and motive to eliminate

this. The teacher-centered approach is basically an old method or theory of teaching or
providing information to the people. On the other hand, (Boler, 2016), provided that student-
centered approach is the essence of Feminist pedagogy which describes that the feminism is a
part of gender equality and to promote and understand this concept the student-centered
approach is used by the companies. This is basically the method or theory of feminist
pedagogy explaining that students and teachers play an equally active role in the learning
process. According to... The method in which the feminist pedagogy has been explained
includes student-centered approach or learning. In this, the approached or methods of
learning are group projects, student portfolios, and class portfolios. Class participation and
demonstration are the most common method of feminist pedagogy.
Social theory

paradigms and frameworks which are used to interpret the social phenomena. Basically, the
social phenomenon which has been the part of the discussion is the feminist pedagogy. This
phenomenon is basically, the structure of initialising feminist or gender equality in the world.
Social theory is the valuable aspect of the feminist pedagogy. On the other hand, the basic
concept has been provided by (Fay, 2014), which describes that the social theory is the
practical implementation of the study called feminist pedagogy. Basically, the social theory is
to accept the study of being equalised and accepted in the society for feminism. The social

The relationship between Feminist Pedagogy and social theory

over the world. The aspect of social theory defines that the feminist pedagogy is not limited
to the just study but its implications in the real life of the people are important. The feminist
pedagogy explains that the nature of being effective in the feminism provided that the people
need to understand the importance of female in the world. The equality of the gender and the
rules related to the feminism are to respect the opinion and gender of different nature in the

The social theory and feminist pedagogy relate to each other in the manner to apply the
practical implication of the theories to make the people understand its importance in the real
context of life. The feminism needs to be understood by the people in the world. On the other
hand (Adams, 2016), provided that the structure of male-dominated society is affecting the
world and the people thinking. Basically, the feminism is necessary to the people so as to
balance the economic condition of the female and male. The imbalances under the different
aspects can be seen such as opinion, education, career, and professionalism. This is because
of the different mentality and mindset of the people under the economic condition of the
people. According to (Caudwell, 2018), The world is facing the different challenges in
understanding the feminism as they cannot accept the direct discrimination or gender
inequality. The best manner of improving the society is to provide the social theory to the
world and this social theory could be understood and implemented in the world with the help
of feminist pedagogy. This is basically the feminist framework which helps in providing the
people an understanding of the feminism and its importance in the world.
With the viewpoint of (Adams, 2016), The understanding of the relationship between the
social theory and feminist pedagogy is that their methods of explaining and providing the
theory are different. Their necessity and understanding a part of which is important is
provided under this. A traditional approach to teaching method which is continuing in the
world for education is Teacher-Centred Approach. As well as on the other hand, the student-
centered approach is the essence of Feminist pedagogy which describes that the feminism is a

Evolution of gender equality in fundamental rights over the years

generated in from the year 1998 to 2010 and is still continuing. The changes have been
occurred because of the understanding society of new generations regarding the feminism.
This is due to the advantageous study of feminist pedagogy (Morley, 2018).

teaching theories which include the different studies which help to communicate the
