About us
•Fictionland, New Jersey has a racially
diverse population of 68,000
•The Fictionland police department , New
Jersey was established in 1945
•The department was established to
deal with the growing concern with
traffic congestion and increasing crime
rates
•The department started with 14 full-
time Caucasian police officers
•It currently employs 58 Caucasian and
2 minority police officers on staff

Our Responsibilities
As law enforcing
agency the Fictionland
Police Department has
certain responsibilities
towards the citizens.
This responsibilities
include:
•Maintenance of law
and order
•Preservation of peace
•Prevention and
detection of crimes
•Arresting offenders
•Enforcement of law
•Patroling areas
•Issue citation
•Make traffic stops
•Provide first to
accident victims
•Respond to domestic
Apart from the legal
responsibilities there are certain
ethical responsibilities of the
department:
•Maintaining honesty and integrity,
•Free from impartiality, favoritism
and personal consideration
•Should be courteous, considerate
and prompt
•Should maintain mutual respect
and professional cooperation in
relationship with other staffs of
thee department
•Should be firm, fair, and consistent

Criticisms
In last five years there have been
many claims of harassments and
brutality of many minor citizens by the
staffs of the department. Claims of
racial profiling in traffic stops have
also been raised on many occasions.
These claims were raised by the
Center for Justice.
A complaint was lodged against an
officer for brutality and racial profiling
against a business owner last year.
Two weeks later another video was
found of the same officer harassing the
businessman without any
provocations. There have eight similar
cases against the officer.

Achievements
Despite criticisms the
department has been awarded
for several achievements by
various officers.
Awards were received in the
following fields:

 Special Dedication award
 Street safety award

Our Goals
Our primary goal is to
curb the racial
profiling inside the
department
Continued
improvement of
service to the citizens
Developing fair and
effective evaluation
system
Improvement of
evidence and property

Objectives of Goals
The objectives of the goals set by the department are
 Develop programs that include education and interdiction
strategies, as well as arrest strategies
 citizens will be given opportunities to be educated in crime
prevention, life saving techniques and police services
available to them
 Development of a mission statement, goals, and objectives
for the department whereby all personnel will be aware of
and understand all policies, programs, and direction
 Development of a system to evaluate personnel on
conduct, proficiency, and behavior. These criteria will be
established by selecting outstanding officers to develop
the conduct, proficiency, and behavior standards for the
department.
 Evaluating performance of personnel throughout the year.’
 Performing a job task analysis for the various positions
 Developing appropriate evidence submission form and
procedures.
