INTRODUCTIONGenre helps in distinguishing the film from one another. There are various type of filmssuch as, romantic, horror, drama etc. The report discussess the statement which was given byJudith Hess Wright that the content of the films decides that which genre it belongs to. Further,it focuses on requirement of choosing a genre and its importance of it in a film. Science fictionfilm are imaginative and futuristic. Moreover, various examples related to this type of films havebeen quoted in the report.Main BodyGenre relates to communicating in a particular mode which can be written, spoken,digital or artistic. It is a category of entertainment which have developed with time. New genresare developed and old ones are discontinued based on the taste and preferences of the audience.A film can be of different genre such as action, adventure, comedy, romance, suspense, drama,science fiction etc. It can be combination of two modes as well, such as romance and comedy,action and drama etc. The films are designed in such a way that it narrates a story using aparticular mode and the set-up is chosen cased on it. The settings include, theme, topic, format,mood budget etc. (Bordwell, 2013).Theme or topic means that the story of the film revolves around the concept andcommunicates the same to the audience. It can be a war film, science fiction or belonging to anyother genre. It influences the individual that whether he / she will watch the film or not. Themood displays the emotional tone which can be comedy, horror etc. It also an important drivingfactor and it is decided based on the taste and preferences of the viewers. Film makers decidesthe mood of the film as per the audience. Format plays an important part which includes the manner in which the film has beenshot. It is an irreplaceable factor which decides that whether the viewers are been able to get theidea of the film and its genre or not. Another important factor is the budget constraint. Theproducers of the film decide a particular budget before implementing it. According to the genreallocation is made. For instance, if they are planning to make a war film it will require aircraft,large number of people, ships etc. Further, if it is a Science fiction, various instruments are usedto develop a robot or to describe an alien world. It adds up to the cost of the film which requiresbig budget allocation. However, if any producer is planning to develop a romantic film, it willnot require much finance in order to share its ideas with the audience.
