FINAL REFLECTION2 Final Reflection Significant Change, and Areas that Need Improvement To me, writing has been a journey of self-discovery. Currently, when I write, I understand that I am almost always venturing into the unknown, and pushing beyond my own boundaries so that I can make a valid point. However, this was not always the case. I never had the confidence write because I was always scared that it would not be good enough. For example, I took it rather personally whenever I received critique because I thought that others only saw my mistakes, rather than the message that I had hoped to relay. After a period of self- reflection, I understood that my main problem was in communication. My previous writings seemed to lack the proper stylistic devices, statistics, or citations in relaying my point of view. Skills Used Outside the Course I have acquired summarizing skills that have been very helpful in several areas outside of this course. For example, I am more efficient in summarizing class notes even in my other classes, I can create concise professional emails at work, and I can now make meaningful, and short journal entries in my daily planner. I also no longer constrain myself in explaining myself in writing because I now have a better grasp of basic communication skills in writing. Skills and Concepts Transferable to Profession The most transferable skills to my line of work are also based on summarizing, and making proper references. I can properly draft professional papers since I am more adept at referencing outside sources within my writing. I believe that this will be of great help in writing my theses as I further my education. I also currently understand how to write scripts based on minimal information, such as, picture quotes, and infographics. I believe that that will be a very useful skill, particularly in making research presentations both in school, and at work.
