and difference over a period. This statement shows four periods from 2014 to 2017.this analysis
is used to compare the historical items with preset year items to measure the change in trends .
The previous year is used as base year and the items of the financial statements are than
compared to the items of the statement of previous year.(base period).changes can be shown in
percentage or in dollars.
Change can be measured by using the formula:
Percentage change=amount of the item of current year- amount of the item of previous year/ base
year Or Dollar change/amount of the item in base year*100.
