INTRODUCTION
As I am pursing Accounting and Finance BSc (Hons) from the University of
Bedfordshire Business School. So I want to apply for Financial Analyst. This report will
include the description of the job role (University of Bedfordshire, 2022). It will include the
reasons I would like to apply for this role in the company and the skills which I already have
and the skills on which I would work to achieve this job. Lastly, it would include the my
personal interest which match to the job role.
1. Job role description
The job role that I would like to prefer is of Financial Analyst. In this role the
responsibility of the person is to analyse the financial statements and according making
the future projections of the company. This include financial modelling in which the
revenue and expenditure are forecasted. Analysing the financial statement helps to find
the market trends. Through this the comparison between the actual and the forecasted can
be made to find the variances between them (Georgiou, Mantzari and Mundy, 2021).
Accordingly, the decision is made by the management to improve it in long run. Apart
from this the Financial Analyst include role of investment banker, commercial banking,
private equity and management of portfolio.
2. Reasons for selecting role of Financial Analyst

there are many fields to switch in future. As working in role of financial analyst
would open more job offers. As large organisations have more value of this role. It
has wider scope and growth opportunities. Inspite of professional growth their will
be personal growth as well. As the core operation of the business is to manage its
finances properly so the scope of this field is very high.

High authority- As the role is to manage finance of the whole company. So,
financial analyst have the authority to make decisions regarding the management
of finance. They have the opportunity to analyse the data and make report based
on that. They are given respect has they have highest authority.
Job security- As this role has a job security. As this required highly skilled
professional knowledge to access and make decision on company’s crucial
information. So, to find new employee is difficult for the company. Even it has
flexible working hours. And the large companies need the financial analyst. As if
anyone have this experience then it is easy to get other job offers from the
companies.
3. Skills currently match or not with the job role
To become a financial analyst many skills are required in regards with
business and finance. It requires accounting skills as it is necessary for the financial
analyst to know the accounting principles and understand the GAAP which are to be
followed by the companies (Cardoso, de Oliveira Leite and de Aquino, 2018). As on
the basis of this it should check whether all the principles are followed or not.
Knowledge of financial modelling is also necessary as it helps the management to
make decisions quickly. Secondly, the knowledge of the accounting software required
or which is used by the company. As the software has many updates so it is necessary
to have knowledge how to use it. Apart from all this Ms Excel skills are very
necessary as without it the projections cannot be prepared. As it makes the
information more reliable and relevant to work with. In the field of finance marketing
is also given importance so due to this I have good communication skills. As they
help to communicate with the clients as well as the team members of the company.
From all this skills which are required I have gained the skills of accounting as
