This article is a self-reflection on the issues faced by First Nations, Inuit, and Metis communities in Canada. The author discusses substance abuse, suicide, and trauma as major problems faced by these communities. Lack of education, laziness, and ignorance are some of the reasons behind substance abuse. The traumatic experiences of the past centuries have contributed to mental health problems and substance abuse. The article also highlights the need for effective laws and access to services to deal with these issues.
