First of all, the task was executed in 100% compliance with the
provided guidelines.
I am pasting these guidelines once again below and the guidelines will
themselves prove that the task is not at all marked with the provided rubric.
Introduction: (50 words max)
Outline the case chosen only to identify which case you have chosen. This is not a full
introduction as the word count is needed for the task. (This is a case study and NOT an essay, so
please use headings).
Systematic assessment: (600-800 words approx)
Use the headings for this section:
CNS/ CVS/ RESP/ ABDO/ RENAL/ OTHER
Include in each section the assessments you would do for the chosen case and the expected
results. This section does not need extensive referencing. You may use acceptable abbreviations
only. Eg ECG would be acceptable.
Priorities of treatment: (1000 words approx.)
Identify 3-4 immediate priorities of treatment (exception sepsis). This would represent the first 1-
2 hours of care for this patient in the emergency department. Set these out logically and discuss
everything that is required in relation to each priority. This would include the RN responsibilities
here, evaluations by the RN and all actions to manage this patient for each priority. This would
include any assessments, documentation and nursing actions or interventions. It will also include
the medical treatment for the patient. For example it may include the administration of
medications and the RN role in giving these.
Use references to support this section. (There is no suggested number of references but they need
to support the information and be appropriately used and relevant).
Discharge Planning: (200 words approx.)
Outline and discuss appropriate discharge planning for this patient that aligns with the social
justice framework. Link the SJF to any suggestions made.
Conclusion: Not needed for this case study.
Let me now correlate the above-mentioned guidelines with the assessment
outcomes.
Professor comment: This assessment task required you to demonstrate the
systematic assessment of the chosen patient. Rather than doing this, a large
portion of your systematic assessment was spent explaining what assessment
should be done and justifying why. A lot was left out, and there was a lot of not
applicable statements ******e, please see my additional in text comments. You
also have not included a full set of vital signs for this patient or pain assessment,
I would have recommended using PQRST or COLDSPA.
Justification: Now the guideline says that “Include in each section the assessments you would do
for the chosen case and the expected results”. This is what exactly I did. I discussed the
assessment and their outcomes or results based on the findings from the case study. The patients
vital signs “T 36.5 PR 78, regular, RR 24, BP 140/80, Oxygen sats 93% on room air, GCS 15,
BMI 27.” Were already provided in the case study, should I copy the same in the solution? The
guidelines asked to discuss only “CNS/ CVS/ RESP/ ABDO/ RENAL/ OTHER” excluding the
vital signs. Still if the professor wanted me to include the vital signs, this had to be clearly stated
in separate class note headed as guideline document during allocation. Nothing here is not
applicable since I explained the substantiation for each exam. The guidelines say ‘Include in each
