INTRODUCTION
• Flexible working has been determined as the way of
working that leads to suit an employee’s needs at the
workplace.
• COVID has promoted the flexible working pattern in the
organization. Employees started feeling comfortable within
carrying out flexible working practices.
• Flexible working often supported the diversity and
inclusion at the workplace.

Importance of flexible working at the
organizations
• Flexible working has been determined as the working pattern that primarily focuses on the
employee’s satisfaction and comfortable level.
• At the time of pandemic it was highly important for the organization to adopt the flexible
working practices.
• In similar manner, TESCO has also adopted the same criteria in which employees worked
from their home within adopting flexible working practices.
• Employees concerned with the flexible schedules does not have to come office on regular
basis they can work from their home as well.

Case in favour of flexible working in relation to
diversity and inclusion at work
• Workplace flexibility leads to provide opportunities to
employees in order to plan their time so, they effectively spend
quality time with the other employees.
• In this manner workplace flexibility leads to encourage the
diversity at the workplace and supports the interaction among
the people at the workplace as well.
• In same manner, flexible working at TESCO leads to support
the diversity at the workplace that enhance the interaction
among the employees.

• Flexible work arrangement is just not limited to opening the pool for the applicants along with this,
it creates sense in the employees in relation of getting higher value at the workplace.
• Currently, young talent prefers the flexible working so they can balance their individual lives as
well rather than just spending their whole time at the organization.

• Adopting flexible workplace at the TESCO will result in promoting the diversity and
inclusion at the workplace in following ways-
• Leveraging flexibility in terms of creating new opportunities.
• Spotlights those employees who are mainly under-represented.
• Helps in clearly communicating the goals and progress.
• Creation of the inclusion network and the interest group.

Analysing the role of human resource in promoting diversity
and inclusion through flexible working
• Human resource plays crucial role in relation of
promoting diversity and inclusion at the workplace
within promoting the flexible working practices.
• The working pattern of the organization is completely
based on the HR department. Same has happened in
TESCO.
