Food Insecurity and Shortage in Haiti_1

Introduction to Case Study
As observed by Parent et al., (2015), Haiti has
been encountering high rates of food insecurity
and shortage since the last 2 decades.
As researched by Rebick et al., (2016), Chronic
socioeconomic conditions and acute crises like
a long history of natural disasters have
contributed to this condition.
According to the CNSA in 2016, Haiti reported
47% food insecurity rates and 10% severe food
insecurity rates (Parent et al., 2015).

Health Impact Assessment (HIA)
According to the WHO, an HIA frameworks
aids in assessing effectiveness of policies
designed for management of environmental
or public health issues in a nation.
HIA will be useful to analyze quality of
existing management of food insecurity and
shortage in Haiti.
HIA will provide scope for possibilities of
future improvement (World Health
Organization, 2019).
