FOOD INSECURITY REPORT 2022_1
Introduction
Food insecurity is the state of being without a stable sources of
accessible, sufficient quantity and affordable food. Within
Australia, the Aboriginal population is affected with poor health
conditions due to the socio-economic disadvantages faced by the
community. According to the estimation of the Australian Institute
of Health and Welfare in 2016, Aboriginals are affected by 2.3
times more than non-indigenous Australians. If the inequalities
prevail, the Aboriginal population would increase by 35% in 10
years and thus contribute to more food shortages and
malnutrition1.
