Vegetation
Within the Footscray Park there is a diversity of mature
trees, which range from elms, palms. Cypress, oaks and
ash. Different species of the rarely cultivated trees in
Australia are also available which include:
̧ Clerodendrum glabrum
̧ Ficus microcarpa
̧ Brahea armata
̧ Melaleuca halmaturorum

History
Footscray Park was developed due to the
demand from locals to develop parkland on
site. Rodney Alsop, was the architect behind
the design of the original layout of the park.
This took place when he was declared the
winner of 1911 park design competition
About Footscray park
FootsCray Park is a local open space having
garden beds and other social facilities. It offers
views to the Flemington Racecourse,
connections to the Maribyrnong River and city
skyline
Land use activities
playground opened at Footscray Park between the pond area
and the Maribyrnong River. The playground is fully fenced and
contains a waterplay area, natural play elements, sandpit,
musical elements and other playground equipment set
amongst trees and garden beds. A public toilet and picnic
areas are close by.

The annual temperature distribution of Footscray Park
is shown in the chart to the right. The monthly highest
temperature which is shown in the chart shows the
mean daily maximum temperature for the month. The
monthly average minimum temperature shows the
mean daily minimum temperature for the month.
