Introduction
Business communication is the process of verbal or written communication of
business transactions so that mutual understanding and business benefits can be
achieved and retained. Business could not possibly exist without communication so it is
an essential part so as to communicate within the business enterprise. Also a Corporate
social responsibility of business is important for any enterprise so as to provide a better
and sustainable life for the stakeholders who are associated with them. For Instance in
the current report Tesco a retail undertaking has been taken which is currently working
in a global world and has its headquarter in UK. The report contains the explanation of a
sustainable approach to business strategy and management. Also various approaches
to CSR of micro, SME and corporate business would be discussed.
1. Explanation of a sustainable approach to business strategy and management.
For instance a useful and prospective integration of business practitioner will be
balance between values approaches and the system approaches. The concept of
sustainable development is a growing in the current business environment (Penbek and
et. al., 2012). For any business organisation sustainable development means adopting
business strategies and activities that meets the needs of enterprise and its stakeholder
so as to protect, sustain and enhance natural resources for future generation. As today
the problem of environment has become substantial a sustainable approach to save it
by the business enterprise must be followed. Business organisation must find an
approach that will help them to achieve three goals such as environmental protection,
social well-being and economic development. Sustainable development is a best way
for business. This creates opportunity to the suppliers who have the benefits of co-
efficiency and those who are engaged in social well being. These enterprises will
generally have a competitive advantage. For a company, to build a business principle
so that they can protect their capital base is fore moist responsibility. Hence for every
company so as to achieve sustainable development it must integrate into the planning
and measuring systems. It is a pervasive philosophy that every organisation working in
the environment must apply. If the company tackle to meet today's needs without
compromising ability of future generation then it is said that the company is sustainable.

It has been seen that problems arising in environment are substantial and it should be
used by economic growth. If a company develops sustainably than it creates
opportunities for suppliers, manufacturers of environmentally safer materials and
processes, organisation that invest in eco-friendly products and those firms that are
involved in social well being. Every business organisation can make contribution
towards the attainment of sustainable development but it varies from the sector in which
they operate or the size of the organisation.
Practical Consideration
The definition of sustainable development is not considered as simple and
universal as business operations traditionally desires meticulous and practicality as the
basis for its planning. This is fluid and it changes over time to time with the increase in
desires of the society and its changing priorities. Business role in contributing to the
sustainable development is indistinct (Rey-García and Mato-Santiso,s 2017). It is the
duty of the organisation so as to develop a strategy that would help in sustaining
environment as gaining profit is not considered as the main function of the organisation.
As in the case of Tesco the sustainable development is done so as to achieve
future market needs, this starts with a CLEAR model which is defined as:
C-Craft sustainable strategy: A company should consider the fact that it is
necessary for them to craft a plan to achieve sustainability. The things that
should be considered while crafting strategy for sustainability includes, the
stakeholders who are impacted the most. As in the case of Tesco they have
made a sustainable strategy that manufactures the product while taking into
consideration the future needs and the stakeholders requirements.
L- Lead strategy and management efforts: It has been analysed that best
sustainability strategy cannot be executed on its own. Business enterprise should
give at least one person a responsibility to carry out its sustainability strategy
(Meyer and Peng, 2016). For the programme to be successful it should be
implemented at all enterprise level. Organisation should install a robust
governance structures to guide their sustainability of efforts. This type of
structure consist of different components such as:
Centra sustainability team
3

Advisory panel of stakeholders
Sustainability oversight board level
As in the case of Tesco they have made a plan and has made a strategy through
which they have recognised a leader who will implement sustainability in their company.
E- Embedded sustainability: Sustainability doesn't means a large change. It is
defined as a small change in different departments of the enterprise that would
bring together a large change. These changes may be from New processes or
expensive work-around. Like Tesco they have made use of recycled packaging
materials in their products. This helped them to achieve the target of future
sustainability. By this they also saved in their expenses within the first 6 months
of adoption of this strategy.
A-Analyse and communicate the strategy: As the managers thought out and
design metrics to guide companies to make a smart and CLEAR decisions.
Companies should analyse the sustainability as a smart decision making tool as
identifier of savings and growth (Jahn and Black, 2017). The managers after
creating the strategy should communicate those strategy within its team so as to
implement the strategy as early as possible and to make the employees
compatible with the new policies-and-procedures.
R-Renew sustainability: As the company has implemented the sustainability
plan it might not be achieve at very first time. It is important for the enterprise to
remember that sustainability is new and is continuously evolving. As in the case
of Tesco they have made a plan that helps them to implement the task of
sustainability.
The organisation should focus on enhancing the plan of sustainable development
as this would make them future ready and would help them in achieving the target of
making the company sustainable. The concept of sustainable development needs to be
incorporated in the policies and plans of the company. A company should include new
cultural policies and make some refinements and practices. There are several steps that
should be taken by the organisation so that they are develop the principle of sustainable
development. These steps would help in managing an organisation and would make it
environmental friendly. These steps includes:

Analysis of stakeholders: Company should perform analysis of stakeholders so
that they are able to identify all the parties that are effected by the companies
operations. A company durability directly depends on the stakeholders as well as
the community in which it operates. It should be responsibility of the enterprise to
identify the stakeholders who helps in developing the policies and which leads to
greater corporate accountability. This starts with identifying the different groups
which are affected by the operation of the organisation. After the analysis of the
stakeholders is done management should prepare a statement of needs and
wants of this group (Schultz, Castelló and Morsing, 2013). It should set out both
the current and future needs so that they are able to achieve the target of
sustainable development. For the company like TESCO it would be helpful in
identifying the areas of potential conflict which occurs among the stakeholders
before it becomes bigger.
Setting of sustainable development policies: The company should st thet
objective to achieve the target of sustainable development by adding basic
values that they expects from the employees. Management should draft policies
that are both inspirational and are capable of influencing the behaviour of
employees. It is important for the organisation to build a sustainable development
objectives that should be made in a clear and concise way. After the objectives
has been established management should evaluate its competitive and financial
strategies that are made to achieve the sustainability. In case of TESCO the
company should evaluate and develop the sustainable development policies in a
manner that they are able to achieve the target as early as possible.
Develop a supportive corporate culture: For the company it is important to
ensure that employees helps them in developing the sustainable development
policies and fulfilling their requirements. If the employees in the organisation
participate in a good manner so as to develop a sustainable development
policies than it will help in generating more practical ideas and would also
increase enthusiasm for the programme. Plans such as internal reporting
systems would help in a significant way. It must be design in a way such that
sustainable development encourages positive behaviour in them. Senior

executives must be actively and visibly involved which would further help in
generating confidence and supporting culture. Also it is important that the board
provides a future predictability for the allocation of the responsibilities to develop
a sustainable policies. Companies like TESCO should formulate a supportive
culture that would help them in achieving the target of sustainable development
by creating positivity and motivation among employees.
2. To evidence and analyse the different approaches to CSR of Micro, SME and
Corporate Business,
Every organisation in the world whether it is a complex multinational enterprise or
small hawker each of them has a responsibility towards their stakeholders. CSR is
broadly defines as the overall contribution of the business to sustainable development
of the society as a whole (Jussila, Kärkkäinen and Aramo-Immonen, 2014). As CSR can
be seen as the overall contributor to the business sustainable development. Hence this
agenda relates to the theory and practice so as to maximise the positive contributions
towards it s environment in which it is operating. They should work on the facts that
helps in minimising the negative impact of using environment products at a larger rate.
There are various approaches to CSR that has been considered in all the enterprises
such as Micro, SME and corporate business, these includes,
Corporate Philanthropy: Various companies exercise this philanthropy by making
direct contribution to the society as a whole. They directly implement a plan for
society such as giving them direct access to social products. Where as the SME
have the target for long standing practice so as to contribute to the communities
where its stores are located through granting educational grants, environmentally
sustainable products and various objectives. It also includes the contribution that
can be made inn kind for the betterment of the society. As the company Tesco
has made an objective to help the children in need. They have come with the
objective that with sales turnover a particular amount should be contributed to
education of children.
Volunteering and community involvement: it is an approach where involvement of
community Is done through volunteering (Houy, Fettke and Loos, 2014). They
make the stakeholders aware about the CSR practice so as to make a better

world. As like Tesco they drive a community development program, in which all
the employees of the organisation support the cause of benefiting the local
communities.
Typical Business behaviour approach: it is the approach where the business
enterprise whether companies or SME work in a integrative way so as to
achieve CSR. As this approach is used this helps them to influence the social
and economic trends that leads to better outcomes for the environment and
society as a whole. Various projects such as recycling the used papers and
avoidance of plastic is one of the approach of Tesco so that they are able to
achieve the objective of social responsibilities and help their stakeholders to live
in the environment which is sustainable for future generation.
Certain evidence has been found in TESCO through which it is known that the
company is regularly aiming and supporting its corporate social responsibility (Maxwell
and Carboni, 2017). The recent press release of TESCO has shown the activities
through which they are contributing towards their society. It includes the following:
Supporting the local communities: as the objective of the company was to
support the local communities they donated around 55 million GBP for various
charities and good cause.
Educating and empowering workers: They helped their employees in developing
their skills through integrated process of skill development and training session
which provide them a better career progress.
Sustainable sourcing: The products that are sold by the company comes from a
sustainable sources which includes the dairy farms and the vegetable suppliers.
Who use sustainable products to grow them.
Environmental practices: TESCO has significantly reduced the energy
consumption by 15% . this has been done through installation of new
technological equipments that helps in reducing the energy use. The company
recycle, reuses and convert the energy from food and non food waste.
Company has taken a step where they have taken out sweets from every store In
UK and has announced the partnership with the diabetes UK and British heart
foundation so as to tackle these diseases. They also have helped in providing

meals to those in need with Fareshare and Trussell trust so that they are able to
tackle food poverty.
Conclusion
From the above report it has been analysed that communication has become a
trending way that helps the organisation to achieve its desired goals in a better way. A
company should use a sustainable approach towards their environment so that it helps
the business as well as their stakeholders to help in maintaining environment. An
organisation should take certain steps so that the employees in the organisation are
motivated to help them to achieve the target of sustainable development. As a result a
company has a CSR responsibility within the environment in which it operates. There
are different approaches in different organisation through which they achieve their
corporate social responsibilities. Thus social responsibility is a very important aspect for
the business. It is based on the recognition that interest of business and community are
related to in a best way.
