TECHNICAL SKILLS
Technical skills are the competence that allows one to carry out a task which is associated with
the technical roles such as information technology. The technical skills that am focusing on
learning are programming in SQL and the analysis of figures that are complex through use of the
specific tools. Due to the rise in job hunting competition, I have to work harder so as to
differentiate myself from other job hunters, the only way to achieve that is through technical
skills.
My objective is learning about the analysis of big data and business intelligence technical skills.
This skill is of great significance in many roles since it gives the business information that is
vital in order to ensure they retain market share or define their competitive advantage. Analysis
of big data plays an important role in the business process which is the reason why the technical
skill is highly valued by the many employers. Evaluation of the large datasets is a task that is
considered very complex and the result helps in the correlation identification, highlighting of the
company’s most significant customers and return on investment assessment, so as to see if the
main organizational and strategic improvements can be made. Completion of data analysis
correctly reduces the inefficiency in sales and marketing operations resulting in an increase in the
opportunities which generate revenue and operational efficiency that is greater.
In order to achieve the objective, there are a number of things that I have to learn. To begin with,
I have to go through relevant online tutorials. Online tutorials are advantageous because they can
be easily accessible, in a timely manner and free. Secondly, I will network with geek’s in the
field. Spending time with people who possess technical skills, I will be able to rub off some of
their knowledge. In order to accelerate my technical skills, I will have to join a computer club
and other users group. Volunteering in the project association will fasten my learning. I will be
able to measure my objective through tackling various projects.

During the networking meeting, I was able to share the list of skills that I had learned both from
schools and from the personal training. Some of the skills that I was able to share comprises of;
data analysis skill. For anyone in business intelligence should possess skills of a business analyst.
This skill allows one to analyze the data sets and software programs. Which involve making
sense of a large amount of data. I was able to share my knowledge of seeing connections making
meaning out of data that has been presented.
Through the networking program, I was able to gain some skills such as industry knowledge. I
was able to get a clear understanding of the industry I am working in. This has helped me
understand and make better use of data I analyze, which will help in offering a useful solution to
the executives. Secondly, I was able to gain problem-solving skills. As a business intelligence
analyst, I need to analyze data and offer solutions to the executives based on the data given.as
business intelligence analyst I have to come up with a solution that will help the organization
stay ahead of the competition.
For my colleagues with interest in pursuing a career in business intelligence, I can share the
skills that I have gained over the contract period such as problem-solving, data analyst and
communication skills.to share the skills that I have gained over the contract period with my
colleagues, I will organize for workshop and group whereby I can teach my colleagues on what I
have learned. We can also organize for volunteering projects so as to gain more skills and
sharpen the skills we already have.
The networking process was very important in my career path. From the network process, I was
able to raise my profile. I was able to get a platform that could help me get noticed. Through the
regular attending of professional and social events, I was able to build a reputation for reliability
and knowledgeable through offering information that was useful. Networking helped me in the

opening of new doors. I was able to expand my contacts which will result in the creation of new
opportunities for career advancement and personal growth. I believe that active networking will
help in keeping me at the forefront of peoples mind when opportunities for job opening arises.
Lastly, networking helped me in the facilitation of the exchange of information. Networking has
been a great opportunity to exchange the best practices knowledge, and to learn about the
business techniques of my peers and staying abreast of the recent developments in the industry.
Through exposing myself to a broader variety of people I was able to absorb information that is
very useful.
Obstacles
I encountered a number of problems during the phase of the program. First, on online tutoring,
the language barrier was an obstacle. Some of the tutorials used languages that I was not familiar
with. This made it I little bit hard and time consuming since I had to find translation software’s
for languages. Secondly, communication of the analyzed data was a little bit difficult. There
were some technical terms that I was not familiar with and I had to go through a hard time I
understand their meaning. Lastly, it was very costly to purchase some of the useful software’s to
use in data analysis. The free software on the internet could not offer important features as the
purchased software.
In my next contract, I will make clear plans first before starting the contract. I will use the
connection I have made during this period to gain an oversight of how processes are done in the
industry to guide me in the generation of my objectives.in my next contract t I will ensure I
select the right organization for my volunteering project. The program has helped me in gaining
skills and helping me in the setting the right path for my career establishment.
