FOUNDATIONS OF AUSTRALIAN HEALTHCARE SYSTEM 2
The literature review is based on elderly people who live in Australia. This country has
the highest life expectancy in the world. Due to the rapid gradual increase in the elderly
population, health care services are required to make changes that will improve the health and
wellbeing of the elderly. The findings of this literature review showed that most elderly patients
prefer to stay at home than in a home for the aged, which is very risky since the individual may
have an underlying problem which is not detected early. It therefore necessary to introduce home
care plans into the society (Oliver-Baxter, Brown and Dawda, 2017, p 98.
The literature review explains some of the services offered in elderly healthcare. It also
gives a guide to some of the elderly home care programs and a comprehensive aging assessment
program. The elderly home care programs are defined, benefits analyzed, and an application is
given. In addition, the literature review has compared the various home care programs and
analyzed them according to their differences in funding and methods of application. The
literature review recommends using the integrated healthcare program for home care
organizations (Araujo de Carvalho et al. 2017, p 756-763).
Using home care plans will help to improve the health of the elderly and will also reduce
the frequent visits to medical facilities which are costly. Home care plans will provide the patient
will all the medical services while allowing the patient to enjoy the comfort of their home
