Introduction
Information system has lead to a complete transformation in the computer based technology
across organisations. It has disrupted changes and transformed the business that is very important
for business in achievement of competitive advantage (Ilmudeen and Bao, 2018). Now
organisations are part of next generation of IT leaders & decision makers. The present report is
based on developing an overview of the way organisations will be applying such key concepts in
context of the case study.
Four information technology components:
Some of the four major components of information technology are mentioned below:
Computer hardware: It is relates with the physical technology that is. It includes key boards, I
pads, disk drives and flash drives.
Software: It is basic set of instructions that are not tangible. It cannot be touched, programmers
are crating software programs (Saffady, 2020). There are many different types of software
programs. In which main categories that includes operating system software. Another is
application software. Operating system includes Microsoft windows on computers.
Data: it is related with collection of facts. Data is also intangible. Organisations are collecting
data and further using them to make decisions.
Networking communications: besides the software, hardware and data there is consideration of
latest technology information system. With the hyper connected world it is important to connect
one network with another device.
The way components bought together in organisations according to key pillars, foundations
Information technology is covering different areas that include hardware and software solutions.
It allows organisations to gather and further evaluate data. It is based on analysing of data so that
they are able to achieve their laid goals. Other components of information technology include
the information security, network management, and business software development and
computer technical support.
Types of computer based information systems
Transaction processing systems: It is the fundamental computer based systems where
organisation pertains to process the business transactions. It is defined as computer based system
that classifies captures, stores, maintains, and updates & further retrieves the transactions data for
