Overview of Research
Free health screening refers to examine the human being in order to identify presence
health problems earlier for treating them easily. It is necessary for people to examined by
physicians as it is favourable to determine serious disease at initial stage so that they can be
easily get treated. However, immunisation can be described as the criterion of improving
immunity of human body in regards to fight and resists to external infections of other health
issues accordingly. In addition to this, it has been analysed that healthcare organisations should
put efforts to and provide required services to employees for enhance their own immunity in
terms of remaining healthy. It is observed that care practitioners must have proper healthy
condition because it impact positively on their clinical performance. In addition to this,
maintenance of staff health is effective to manage work pressure in healthcare organisations and
facilitate delivery of appropriate medical facilities to patients.
Background of the study – In context of this investigation, it is based on Portland Hospital
which is a private maternity hospital for women and children owned by hospital corporation of
America on Great Portland Street, London opened in the year around 1983. The Portland was
originally conceived by a paediatrician Barry Lewis, who saw a need for a private hospital at
London for children and women. The services are also marketed internationally and in 2015
around 25% of hospital earning came from patients living overseas. Many royal family members
have born in Portland hospital. This hospital provide broad range of medical services like
antenatal and postnatal classes, endometriosis services and treatments, specialising in paediatrics,
maternity, children's orthopaedic and women's health. Over 600 experienced consultants work in
diagnostic department including ultrasound, CT scan, radiology scanners, MRI.

immunity of an individual which helps to save them from various viral, bacterial or fungal

immunisation programs for staff members in given hospitals so that they will not get infected
while treating patients with infectious diseases. It is necessary for care practitioners to take
precautions and use methods to maintain their appropriate health to perform effectively for
patients wellness.
As per view given by Bobby Joseph and Merlyn Joseph (2016), health care employees
are those who provide services and care either interdependently with doctors or independently as
a nurse, helpers, lab technicians or hospital waste handlers. This industry delivers one of the
most harmful and unsafe environment to their staff, so, regular screening at daily or scheduled
basis and immunisation is required for ensuring their health, which can be done by undergoing
pre employment checks, frequent health surveillance, hospital health checks which is offered to
everybody in five years and lifestyle assessment which involve general health checks regular
checks to determine risks and present health condition of staff and to provide preventive
measures and precautions for improving welfare among employees.

Management is basically a process of directing and controlling projects of the

particular situation. It is necessary to use effective management models in order to manage
change in practices of employees for increasing regular patients outcomes. On the other hand,
Leadership is an art of an individual to influence and motivate other members of organization.
This framework and structure involves variety of tools and models as per the situation arises.
Meanwhile, it is favourable to utilise appropriate leadership framework in terms of change
management in terms of facilitating development in Portland Hospital and increase effectiveness
of clinical procedures respectively.

and also aid to detect any diseases and risk factors like obesity, high blood sugar, poor diet,
drinking alcohol, high cholesterol, lack of exercise, high blood pressure, smoking at prior stages,
this is important because health care staff is always surrounded by people having dreadful
diseases and as a result of immunisation and free health screening programmes vaccine
preventable diseases transmission can be minimised.
