The report will cover purpose and the functions of HRM along withstrengths and weaknesses of different approaches of recruitment and selection process. Inaddition to this, importance Of employee relation in Intercontinental Hotel Group [I.H.G.]influencing HRM Decision-making and elements of employee legislation and its Impact onHRM Decision Making will be discussed in this report.TASK 11.1 Purpose and the functions of HRMHuman resource department: HRM can be described as a critical component of employee well-being in business (Bargiela-Chiappini, 2014). They are responsible for managing all the activitiesincluding payroll, hiring, firing, benefits and keeping updates of federal tax laws and otherpolicies applied within business effectively. Purpose of HRM: There are three major responsibilities of human resource management inIntercontinental hotel group such as staffing, employee benefits and compensation and designingthe work. The initial purpose of HRM is to increase business productivity by optimising theemployees' effectiveness.HRM Functions: There are mainly five functions of HRM which includes recruitment andselection, orientation, managing the good environment and working conditions, management ofemployee relationship and training and development. Recruitment and selection: Recruitment is a process of captivating, selecting and screening ofqualified and potential workers based on objectives criteria towards a specific job. The goal is torecruit qualified and skilled employees within firm in order to manage the work (Iglesias andSaleem, 2015). It is a crucial part of HRM functions that it will help to reduce cost of mistakessuch as unmotivated, engaging incompetent and under-qualified workers. Orientation: It can be said that there are many businesses do not provide through orientation tonew workers. It can be described as a fundamental step which helps new workers to adjust withtheir employer and work.
