INTRODUCTION
Functional Areas refers to those areas where a business is able to ensure that it is able to
function properly in the right manner (Ackah, 2019). Therefore it becomes important for the
businesses to be able to make sure that they are able to focus on them to achieve a higher level of
efficiency and effectiveness. This report is based on IOM Electronics Ltd. It is a company which
deals in Electronics. In this assignment, there will be specific focus on different types of
functional areas of the business. Additionally, analysis on types of skills needed by employees to
be able to work effectively in these areas will be discussed as a part of this project.
MAIN BODY
Functional Areas in the Business
There are various types of functional areas which are present within a business
organisation (Han and et.al., 2016). The presence of these particular areas helps in ensuring that
a business is able to function in the right manner effectively and efficiently. In the context of
IOM Electronics Ltd. it becomes quite important that a specific focus is made on the following
functional areas of business-
 Production- This is a department in which a specific focus is made on the producing of
various types of goods (Huang and et.al., 2018). Specific requirements and standards are
set for the purpose of carrying out production which can be quite helpful in ensuring that
the companies are able to attain a higher-level of efficiency and effectiveness. This can
lead towards enhancement in the level of sales revenues and ultimately can lead towards
higher-level of profitability. Therefore, for a company like IOM Electronics Ltd. It is
important that it is able to put focus on producing good quality goods for the different
types of customers and clients.
 HR- In this department, a specific focus on the various types of HR practices is made.
Use of HR practices in the organizations can help in ensuring that the overall level of
goals and objectives related to the well-being of the employees can be ensured. In a
company like IOM Electronics Ltd. It is quite important that it is able to put its specific
focus on the right HR practices to be applied quite effectively and efficiently. This will
help in ensuring that the overall goals and objectives in the short-term and long-term can
be attained in the right manner.
