INTRODUCTION
Business is a set of activities which is used by organizations to run their operational and
departmental functions smoothly. The main motive of business is to increase organizational
growth and facilitate best quality products to customers. Activities of business also helped to
maintain good communication with stakeholders for a long time. Stakeholders includes
customers, suppliers, CEOs and employees. The company which is chosen for organizing
business are IOM electronics LTD. In stakeholders suppliers played the major role to run the
operational activities smoothly. Because in operational activities like raw materials are used by
the organization for preparing the high quality product and these raw materials are supplied by
suppliers. This report is prepared on the basis of secondary data which includes newspapers,
journals and magazines. This report is also prepared on the basis of various functional areas of
the organization. These functional areas are very essential to run the organization systematically.
TASK
Various functional areas in business organization
Functional areas refers to those activities which are divided in to separate department according
to their roles and responsibilities (DeConinck, Moss and Deconinck, 2018). The areas which are
used by the companies for run the activities are -
 Marketing – In marketing organization is mostly focused on popularise the brand name
and the particular product between the public. For popularizing the product organization
used various strategies which includes advertising, digital marketing, personal selling and
so on. In context to IOM electronics LTD management must facilitate reliable and
meaningful content to consumers. This method helped the customers for purchase right
product. Reliable and meaningful information is very essential for increasing the desire of
consumers.
 Human Resource – The main role of human resource department is to manage the
overall operational activities and employees in organization. HR also helped to increase
the optimum utilization of human resources. HR also managed the work efficiency of
employees in organization constantly in positive manner. In context to IOM electronics,
For maintaining employee satisfaction company must provide various resources to them
in workplace. It includes latest equipments, financial benefits and so on. Human resource

are also responsible for maintaining for maintaining flexibility in work culture
(Koveshnikov, Tienari and Piekkari, 2019). It leads to increase the loyalty towards
customers for long time.
 Finance – In this department overall expense are managed in organization. It means
managing expenditure is very essential to run the operational activities smoothly. The
main role of this department is to manage the salaries of the employees and also fixing
the funds towards other departmental activities. In context to IOM electronics,
management must manage funds systematically which leads to reduce the risk or loss of
business activity. The other function of finance department is to maintaining the record of
day to day expenses digitally or in written form. These records are very helpful for
reducing the extra expenditure in organization.
 Production – It refers to those activities which are utilized by company for producing the
product. It includes use of high tech equipments, use of raw materials and so on. In
production advanced equipments and skills of the employees are mostly used to
manufacture best quality product. In context to IOM electronics, for continuing the
production in fast manner management must maintain the effective supply chain
management with suppliers. It leads to increase the timely deliver of products to
consumers for long run. In production safety standards are highly maintained by various
organizations which leads to increasing their good behaviour towards seniors.
 Information Technology – This department mostly focused on maintenance of
equipments which was utilized in workplace by the employees. Because equipments
played the major role to run the production activities of company easily (Mian and Sufi,
2018). Technology are also essential for doing the difficult work easily which was not
possible by employees. In context to IOM electronics, management must use AI
technology for completing the task in time. For maintaining the functions of equipments
properly technical employees are mostly involved in this area. In AI technology
equipments are already programmed by technical employees. This technology also
helped to reduce the mistakes which was normally done by employees.

The types of skills needed by employees to be able to work effectively in these functional areas
Skills refers to hidden talent which was come internally from the employees for doing the
work smartly. The skills which are needed by employees for doing work effectively in different
functional areas are -
Skills needed by employees in marketing -
 Communication – It refers to the effective interaction between employer and employee.
Effective communication is also essential for run the internal and external activities of the
organization smoothly. In context IOM electronics, management must increase the
communication skills of employees with proper training. With the help of effective
training employees easily increase the sale of product and also understand difficulties
which was faced by customers.
 Creativity – It refers to the unique ideas which was comes in the minds of the employees
in organization. Creativity is very essential to increase the sale of the product through
various strategies. In context to IOM electronics, management must use strategies such as
using creativity in advertising or in digital platforms and so on (Rosati, and Faria, 2019).
In these two strategies company used various designs, colours and offers for attract the
consumers in large number.
Skills needed by employees in human resource -
 Problem solving ability – It refers to handling various types of problems which was
created by the employees. This skill is very necessary for the HR department employee
because the responsibility of whole organizational activities and employees comes HR
department. In context to IOM electronics, management must develop the problem
solving skills of all employees of various departments for handle any type of situation
easily.
 Performance management – It refers to the evaluate the performance of the employees
on daily and monthly basis. Good performance by employees is very important for
increasing organizational growth and profit (Suša Vugec, Tomičić-Pupek and Vukšić,
2018). In context to IOM electronics, management must provide the targets to employees
on monthly basis which leads to their productivity for long time. When the performance
of the employees are increased then HR department definitely provide extra benefit to
that employee.

Skills needed by employees in finance -
 Analytical skills – It refers to demonstrate the information analytically to the seniors or
customers effectively (Shaheen and Cohen, 2018). In this skills employee consider
various factors for demonstrating short information such as critical thinking, logical
reasoning etc. In context to IOM electronics, management must develop strong analytical
skills of employees by assigning various types of financial case studies to them.
 Motivational skills – It refers to motivate the employees with the help of facilitating
various financial benefits. In context to IOM electronics, management must facilitate
decent wage to the employees. It leads to increase the productivity and work efficiency of
workers within the organization.
Skills needed by employees in production -
 Attention to details – It basically refers to monitor the all the employees and equipments
in workplace at the time of manufacturing product (bStål and Corvellec, 2018). In context
to IOM electronics, management must establish effective infrastructure in the workplace
for employees. It enhanced the space in workplace area for employees doing the job
easily. It also helped manager to monitor employees easily.
 Coordination – It refers to strong connection between the senior and junior level
employees. In context to IOM electronics, management providing accurate information
to junior level employees for maintaining effective coordination at time of producing
product.
Skills needed by employees in information technology -
 Technology awareness – Technology is a very important element for employees for run
the organization smoothly. Without the awareness of technology organization did not
keep the employee permanently in the job. In context to IOM electronics, management
must provide proper training to employees regarding technology for doing job easily.
 Innovation – It refers to the use of new technology with the help of creative ideas by
employees. In context to IOM electronics, management initiate various activities for
motivate employees which enhance the thinking habit of employees such as providing
case studies.

CONCLUSION
From the analysis of above information it is understood that business is very essential to
create the awareness of the particular product between public. It leads to increase the popularity
and profit of the organization in long run. In business skill are very important for management
for understanding the problems of employees in various functional departments. Skills includes
communication, team management, problem solving and so on. After analysing of problems in
various departments solutions are prepared for them which leads to increase the productivity and
work efficiency of employees in organization. Skills also helped employees in organization to do
the work smartly and also for complete the task in time. For enhancing the skills and talents of
employees organization providing effective training to them. These training also helped
employees to develop their attitude and behaviour professionally towards others. These
professional behaviour is essential for employees to maintain good relation seniors and
consumers in long run.
