INTRODUCTION
Every organisation is running with the helps of various functional areas as these are the
sub-divisions which is being performed with the specialised workforce with the aim of attaining
pre-defined goal of the company. A group of people working who are having similar skills and
abilities by which they can work with the help of specialised workforce(Edelman and Macé,
2021). There are various functional are that are working with the aim of generating higher
growth to the business which includes marketing, human resource, information technology and
production. To conduct this respective report, IMO electronics Ltd is the chosen organisation
and this report is based on the case study in which John is 21 year old ad having less experience
in working. He just won the £10 million in lottery and decided to buy the local company by his
own. It is the regional organisation with 200 employees which is based over tow sites in
Manchester and Liverpool. Thus, this respective report will analyse the different functional areas
and the type of skills required for the employees.

Explain the functional areas in the organisation
Every organisation is working with the aim of adopting advancement technology so that
they can have brand recognition in the market and leads to attains higher profits and sale. In
consideration of IMO Electronics Ltd., There are various departments which are working
together to achieve the desired goal of the company and they are given below:
 Production: It is the unit which is engaged in converting the raw material into finished
goods for further sale in the market for attaining higher profits and revenue. It is the
action of manufacturing goods and services by which they can attract the large group of
customer who can be loyal to their brand. In context to IMO Electronics Ltd., the
manager ensures the sufficient availability of raw material by which they can full fill the
needs and wants of the target market and operate their business on larger scale.
 Human resource: It is the functional unit that is related to higher of the potential
candidate who perform their job role in well-defined manner by using their skills and
abilities so that higher revenue and profitability can be generated in the organisation.
Human resource manager is also responsible for compensation, salary, leaves and training
of the employees so that they can expert in their given field. In context to IMO

Electronics Ltd., they are hiring the deserving candidate who can work in the executed
manner with the aim of attaining higher growth in the market.
 Finance: It is the functional area which is concerned for procuring and accessing the
funds in the various operational units so that resources can be rightly accessed with the
aim of generating higher profitability within the organisation. They can hire the candidate
who can manage invoices and administration work. In context to IMO Electronics Ltd.,
this department ensures the sufficient availability of goods funds and resources which
helps in operating the various operational activities in well-defined manner.
 Marketing: It is the department which is responsible for promoting and advertising the
goods and services of the company so that they can increase their overall sale. This also
includes creating, communicating, exchange products to the potential customer so that
goods can be rightly sale to the prospective buyer and leads to have the good brand image
in the market(Li and et. al., 2020). In context to IMO Electronics Ltd., marketing
manager ensures the use of right marketing strategy so that large group of customer can
be attracted to their brand with the aim of having purchase in large quantity that leads to
give more profits to the company.
 Informational technology: This is the business unit which is responsible for building
communications network for the company so that data and the information can rightly
safeguard and also helps the employees to sole their problems with their computers or
mobile devices. It also responsible for managing and delivering the information by using
voice, data and video in to make other understandable. In context to IMO Electronics
Ltd., they can make the best use of information technology so that company can operate
their business with the sufficient funds and resources.
 Research and development: It is the department which engage in the market research so
that innovation can be gain and they can understand the current trends and measures of
the market with the aim of having higher profits. It is the main aspect which ensures the
better understanding about the upcoming and latest technology which helps in the
development and growth of the business on larger scale. In context to IMO Electronics
Ltd., they are having the certain aspects which helps in the development of business as
they conduct the effective market research so that they can rightly launch their new
product a per the needs and wants of the current market place.

Employees are the backbone for any organisation as they use their integrated set of skills
and abilities in order to reach to the desired objective. There are different set of skills which are
needed for the individual so that they can be specialised in their given job role in an organisation.
In context to IMO Electronics Ltd., various skills are explained as follows:
 Communication skills: It is the medium of exchanging the thought and information of
the individual to the other person to make them understand. When the manager or the
employees is having better communication among them this leads to accomplish various
task in an appropriate manner with the aim of generating higher revenue and profitability
within the organisation (Mackintosh And et. al., 2020). In context to IMO Electronics
Ltd., they are having the better results within the organisation as employees are sharing
their in formation with their colleagues so that task can be rightly performed with the aim

honest and dedicated employees are the key for the success of the company as they give
their best and also influence others to perform better in the given field. This leads to meet
the objectivity of the business enterprises.
 Innovative ideas: It is the skill by which an individual conduct the effective market
research in order to get innovation in their products and services. This helps in meeting
the current trends of the market by which they can rightly moves towards higher profits
and growth in the market(Porrino And et. al.,2021). In context to IMO Electronics Ltd.,
employee must have the innovative and creative mind so that they understand the needs
and wants of the target market in order to offer unique products to them.

order to get the higher profits within the organisation. They make the effective team of the
employees having similar set of skills by which they easily attains the pre-defined goals of the
company. There are skills such as innovative ideas, honesty and integrity, professionalism by
