MANAGING INFORMATION SYSTEMS1 Functional aspects of a management information system In an Information System (IS), there are many functions are working parallelly. It is a basic need for a system to work parallel to improve the various factors. Moreover, the Management Information System (MIS) has provided data and information for business and other functions of an organization. MIS system has included many functions of an organization, which are necessary for growth in the market. There are main three functions of an MIS system, which are connectivity, efficiency, and decision-making(Caniëls & Bakens, 2012). In addition, the decision-making process is better with the help of the MIS system, as the MIS system has provided present and past data for predictions and decision-making processes. It has provided real-time data as well. However, long term decisions are based on data analytics. Thus, most of the firms have used the MIS system for the decision-making process(Laudon, & Laudon, 2016). Moreover, the MIS system can improve the efficiency of a firm in terms of reducing cost and time from various processes. It makes a huge impact on performance and productivity as well. There are many business functions in a firm, which can improve the revenue and profit of that firm(Moorty, 2017). Furthermore, the MIS system has provided better connectivity between different functions of a business, such as supply chain, logistics, inventory, finance, and many more. In addition, an organization can improve collaboration and connectivity between processes and employees as well(Raymond & Bergeron, 2008).
