Values/belief Pattern
What is the predominant spiritual belief in the community that may influence health?
Religion important in life? Does this help when difficulties arrive?
Do you have sufficient spiritual resources within the community?
What do you value the most?
Does your community values the health promotion measures?
Do you get enough funds?
Key findings : They values the Mother Earth for whatever they have and pays her gratitude
every year and also belive that the almighty will save them from any difficulty they face.
They believe in respecting people and honouring their human rights(Necefer et al, 2015).
Coping stress tolerant Pattern
How do you deal with stress?
What are the stressors?
Do you consume alcohol or do drug abuse?
Is there any crime or violence issue in your community?
What is the prevalent mental health issue in your community? How do you deal with it?
What is your thought about disaster planning?

Key findings : Poverty and unemployment are the major stressor for them. They often get
into depression and start consuming alcohol and do substance abuse as they think that will
reduce their stress. There is very less indications of stress management in the community.
Sexuality Reproductive Pattern
Are you satisfied with your sexual relationship? Is there any problem?
Do you use contraceptives?
Does the women in your community have access to maternal child health services?
Key findings: The community has a good knowledge on birth control and knows how to use
contraceptives. The pregnant women get access maternal child services through the Indian
Health Service, however there are lots of terms and conditions applied.
Roles/Relationship pattern
Do you live alone? Or have a family?
What is the family structure?
Who are the vulnerable groups in your community? What influence do they have?
What is your relationship with the broader community members?
Key findings: The Native Americans always prefers living in harmony with all their family
members together. They have huge respect and honor for the broader community members.
The vulnerable group in their community are the poor and malnourished children living in the
remote and isolated areas who does not have proper access to nutrition, resulting in diseases
like Merasmus, Kwashikor etc.
Self perception-self concept pattern
How do you describe yourself? Do you feel good about yourself?
