Game Design for Academic Integrity: Plagiarism Identifier

This presentation discusses the Plagiarism Identifier game, which is designed to help students understand academic integrity and avoid plagiarism. INTRODUCTION
Academic misconduct is defined as the attempt to attain various academic advantages
through conducting unfair actions. An academic misconduct is related to sabotage the
academic integrity that is done by students in the process of submitting assessment.
Design a game
The activity of academic misconduct which is related to plagiarism is
conducted by the students of university that reduces the level of honesty
and morality among them. It is very important to avoid the activities of
misconduct and plagiarism from academic work because it is considered
as the unethical practice as well as recognized as the action of theft.
Plagiarism Identifier (PI): Plagiarism identifier is the interactive,
online as well as fun based game which is designed by the students for
attaining knowledge and understanding regarding academic integrity.
Main objective of developing this game is to avoid plagiarism as well as
other kind of academic misconduct activities.
Structure and model of Plagiarism identifier
The structure of the Plagiarism identifier is segregated is
three segments and each part consist two relative questions with having
six options as answer. Right answer provides specific points to
participants like 20, 10, 40, 50 till 100.
Rules to play game:
• In order to play the game, participants must login their accounts with
their user ID and password with the objective of enhancing data security
and authentication.
• Participants are required to select one option among six .
• As the game consist three segments like plagiarism segment, academic
misconduct segment as well as academic integrity segment. To win the
game, participants must attain more then 50 points.
• The game of Plagiarism identifier is produced to avoid academic
misconduct and plagiarism activities. The game also enhances
knowledge and understanding of students regarding their academic
topics.
• There are some rules are formulated like students can not leave the game
without getting any feedbacks that improves their performance. If some
students leave it then they are not able to submit their assignment.
• Questions related to the game are changes each and every time when
students login their id on portal to avoid plagiarism and cheating.
Importance of academic integrity
Academic integrity is important at University that described with the help of
five pillars of academic integrity:
• Trust
• Honesty
• Fairness
• Respect
• Responsibility
CONCLUSION
As per above report, it can be concluded that
the concept of game designing is related to
avoiding the activities of misconduct and
plagiarism which are serious unethical
practices. As students are involved in
outreaching the ways to get easier way to
complete their work without putting
handwork. It enhances the requirement of
implementing academic integrity by university
that foster reputation of it. It is observed that
the game is highly appropriate to avoid the
plagiarism and academic misconduct.
