ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY
The topic chosen for the assignment is the article on a Saudi woman who “dared
to drive” to spread the message of women emancipation especially in the Middle East
(Npr.org, 2018). The topic gives a strong message about gender inequality and the
ways to fight it. The dare shown by Manal Al-Sharif is an inspiration to other women.

The book authored by Katie Coleman, talks about gender roles and inequality
that is visible across the globe in almost every field both professional and private. The
book has dedicated one entire chapter to gender inequality where the author talks about
the role of women as minority. Further, the author explores the violent traditions across
the globe that is affecting women in an uneven manner.
The book has maintained a lucid flow throughout in defining and explaining the
role of gender and its differences. The fight by Manal Al-Sharif for introducing driving
rights for Saudi women is a prime example of gender inequality. As the author very
clearly mentions in her book that women face various forms of oppressions one of
which is, veiling and they opt various ways to fight this oppression.
