The concept of gender equality has been one of the hot topics lately in the media. Not
only the women, but men also had been the champions of the gender equality in the world in the

the gender equality on different sexes. This assignment summarizes a speech and a reflection on

The echo of injustice continues in many parts of the world or as we say in many nations
irrespective of the fact of the universal human rights. In this context I remember one of the most
legendary journalists of the time, Edith Lederer who basically broke all the boundaries in the
newsroom for highlighting the excuse for the practice of the discrimination against women. “As
we all know women are often considered as the second class status”. I admire her approach since
she was one of the first female having issues and took the courage for the notification of the issue
in the fourth world conference of the women in Beijing at 1995.
My book “HeforShe” is basically the summary of my year long experience, regarding
gender equality, feminism and the overall status of the women gender in the current era.
According to my personal insight, the theory of feminism is quite related to the equality theory.
This particular subject has been on my ethos and I would like to explain it with Dilt’s logical
level. As you all know the six level of the logical model is interconnected to one another. The
basic idea of the level of the logics relies on the fact that each of the level is directly connected
with the lower level and these affects on the lower levels of the hierarchy (Schnabel 2016). The
notion of environment is important for the concept of the gender equality as environment forms
the base of the culture that highlights the notion how the concept of gender equality is accepted,
how the rights of the women are accepted in that environment. Next the behavior of the people in
the environment depends on the cultural thoughts and the beliefs. For example, in the Asian
countries, the women are subjected to discrimination on the basis of the social thoughts and the
patriarchal beliefs of the culture they belong to. The behavior, the capability of the competences,
the beliefs, the identity and the spirituality towards the effective propagation of the concept of

gender equality is still a big challenge (Iannotta Gatti and Huse 2016). The logical levels
proposed by Robert Dilts are some of the best resources that I noted in my book as the structure
for the understanding of the notion of feminism and the gender equality. Another tool of analysis
that I mentioned in my book is the Grice’s maxims. I personally like the tool since it enhance
the truthfulness of the concept and dos no give any of the false support or any sort of evidences.
I furthermore want to talk about the famous award winning journalist, Funmi Iyanda who
used the airwaves for galvanizing the concept of equality. “The concept of the gender inequality
is the willful handicap of the humanity and thus it makes no sense. It is thus not possible for the
full evolution of the human species without the equal participation of both the gender”.
“ Standing together and making the voice of the women and the men who are the victims
of the gender inequality is the only way” (Riley et al. 2016). Using her melodious voice, Debi
Nova, the famous songwriter and the singer found her way to protest against the violation of the
rights towards the discriminated and the marginalized class of gender, the women of the
universe.
Today more than 12 billions of girls and women are the victims of the gender inequality
and they are still surviving proudly. We must silence this discrimination. This echo. This
inhuman belief that women can’t do things, women are the secondary gender and they are the
weaker ones.
My book is just a gateway towards the rigidity and the belief that we , all the people
irrespective of the gender and the class and the nation needs to change our thought, our beliefs.

Part B - The Reflection
From the above speech it can be clearly understood that gender inequality is an emerging
issue in the society. A major part of the speech is based on Dilt’s logical level. Dilt’s Logical
level is referred to a logical presentation of what potential an individual posses and why some
changes last longer while others don’t. In his speech, the speaker has successfully engaged the
audience. The mentioned tool has been clearly and effectively used in the speech. The argument
that has been built up throughout the speech on the basis of gender inequality has efficiently
pointed out the miseries faced by women due to the evil practices of the society. The aspect of
the environment has been clearly shown in the speech with the help of life experience of famous
inequality survivors like Mikey Mercer, Funmi Iyanda, Debi Nova and others (Marshall et
al.2015). The speaker through his speech has emphasized the fact that in order to obtain gender
equality, women need to fight against discrimination and show the courage to speak and perform
against the society.
As per my opinion, only half of the population of the world lacks the capability to
eradicate the mentioned evil practice from the society. As being described by the speaker, the
famous singe Mickey Mercer with the help of his song have addressed gender inequality and

side of women in the battle against inequality. Another fact that has come out clear in the speech
with the help of Dilt’s Logical level includes the environmental aspects. I have noticed that this
aspect is weaved throughout the speech that in turn has built significant aspect of the arguments.
Along with tat the concept of competence has been clearly described in the story of Edith
Lederer who posed a long term tryst with issues associated with gender inequality. Considering
the fact that she had broken the stereotype that men are more capable of covering battle news.
Lederar broke the concept that women are fragile beings and lack the capability to withstand
adverse situations. As being mentioned in the speech she showed the world that no difference
exist between the capability of men and women by covering the news from battle front and is the
first woman to head Ecuador, AP Beuro and Bolivia (Rothman 2015). The aspect of competency
is directly connected with the concept of believe and the urge to develop self identity. The story
of Funmi Iyanda as being mentioned in the speech has highly emphasized on the aspect of
identity and belief. Having her origin at Nigeria, the country which is still struggling to obtain
gender inequality, Iyanda has inspired millions of women o be vocal against gender inequality,
she herself have obtained the recogization of being the Youngest Power African Women of 2015
and one of the World’s economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders. The mission of Iyanda, as
been stated in the speech is to enhance gender equality globally across the world.
Another aspect of Dilt’s Logical level that came through the speech includes the aspect
of spirituality. According to researchers, spirituality is not always included in the logical levels,
and might be thought of as a step beyond the others (Jayachandran 2015). It is about what else
and this aspects concentrates on the bigger system beyond the individual. Gender equality can be
defined as the beliefs an individual posses about his or hrs ow capability as well as the capability
of his or her opposite gender. As in the case of gender inequality in education system, the speech

has pointed out that there exist lots of countries in the world where a girl child is considered to
be a burden who needs to be married of at a certain age and hence is not provided with the
opportunity of education. As per my opinion, lack of education in women is the chief reason that
hinders the way to eradicate gender inequality. The speaker, in his speech have provided with an
effective example by demonstrating the story of Debi Nova and the action taken by her to
eradicate the issue. With her powerful lyrics, the famous Costa Rican singer as well as song
writer has supported education for women and girls. Apart from that, she was named ambassador
of the Youth and United Nations Global Alliance, and lent her powerful voice for UN Women’s
One Woman song (Stearns 2015). As per my opinion, the success of the famous singer itself will
encourage several girls to be vocal to gain education and gain success in life.
The speech when analyzed through Grice’s Maxim has proved to be an efficient one.
When it comes to maxim of quantity, as per my opinion, the speech is highly informative and
has provided with sufficient information about the influencers who have dedicated their skills to
fought for gender equality. When it comes to the maxim of quality , all the experiences as well
as scenarios discussed within the speech are truthful and as per my knowledge no information is
provided that provide false information which is not supported by evidence. The maxim of

relevant to the chief issue that is gender equality. Finally, when it comes to the maxim of
