Gender and Health Inequality in the UK: Access to Healthcare, Disease Rates, Employment, Education, and Solutions

This article discusses the gender and health inequality in the UK, including access to healthcare, disease rates, employment, education, and solutions. It also highlights the reasons for the existence of health inequalities and the role of charity in supporting health and education.

Access to healthcare:
 The access to healthcare in UK by males and female
vary.
 54% female have made health check-up in 2017-
2018.
 While only 46% of male have accessed the NHS
health check-up.
 This shows that the rate of female in accessing health
is high in comparison of male.
GENDER AND HEALTH INEQUALITY-UK
Disease rate:
Rate of cancer is high i.e. 375000 new Cancer cases found in 2016-2018.
In females the number of cases of Cancer are more than 182000 in 2016-
2018.
In case of males the number of Cancer cases are 193000 in 2016-2018.
28.0% of adults in England are obese and 36.2% are overweight but not
counted as obese.
The rate of obesity in females are more than men in UK.
In 2019 the rate of obesity in male is 27% while the rate of obesity in case of
female is 29%.
This shows that the rate of obesity in case of female are more than men.
Social issues:
Employment rate:
The rate of employment in UK was 75.5% in November,
2021 as compared to 74.9% in 2020.
There is an existence of disparity between males and female
in the context of employment rate.
In 2021, the rate of employment among female is 72.2%
while that of males is 78.8%.
This clearly shows a disparity and difference between the
rate of employment.
Education rate:
The rate of education in UK among males and females are
highly vary.
The rate of education among males is 62.9% in 2019.
The rate of education among females is 71.7% in 2019.
This shows that the rate of education is higher in females
while making it compared with the males.
Reasons of existence of health inequalities:
Lack of awareness towards health and education.
Low interest of males in education.
Presence of gender disparity between males and
females.
Solutions:
Enabling education, organization of
employment fair are some of the best
methods.
Creation of health awareness and
awareness related with education
plays an important role.
Organization of health and education
or job campaign also act as major
solution for the concerned problems.
With the creation of awareness in
relation with the diseases like obesity,
cancer and others, minimization and
dealing with diseases can be made
possible.
Role of charity:
Plays an important role in terms of
supporting health and education.
Earning from charity are £5 million
which is accounted for 1.3% of
organization.
With the role of charity, the UK achieve
high growth in terms of health and
education.
The rate of participation of women in
charity programme is high as compared to
men.
90% of women make participation in
charity programme while the rate is 83%
in males.
