INTRODUCTION
The report will outline success and failure of gender main streaming where focus was to
empower women and promotes equality among men and women.
MAIN BODY
According to Moser, 2005, gender main streaming is focused on meeting and addressing
needs of men and women both which are competitively different with regard to conditions,
human rights, working condition and recognition. As per this study it is derived that main
streaming of gender has succeeded in varied areas and regions but it is still considered a failure
because of some governmental and organisation like northern agencies of development.
However, Rees, 2005, discussed about official policy approach in European union which
focused on promoting Gender parity with the help of policies and programmes. The scholars
articulated major cause of failure which main streaming of gender is coming up with challenges
like institutionalised sexism. Apparently, it can be said that success of gender main streaming
can be identified by equal treatment to people on the basis of legislation contribution, in society,
inclusion and managing diversity.
Nevertheless, Walby, 2005, discussed about contest concept of gender main streaming
which comprise rebranding, restructuring and reinvention of key areas of feminism. In
accordance with this study empowering women is the best way to promote gender equality as it
helps in overcoming dilemmas which arise in theory and practices of feminist. Thus, from the
discussion of different articles it can be outlined that gender main streaming has succeeded to
certain aspect but still there is long way to go to manage equality and diversity in every region
and area of society.
CONCLUSION
The report concluded about the success factors of gender main streaming that is gender
parity and empowerment of women.
