INTRODUCTIONBusiness environment can be defined as a sum of all the internal and externalfactors which collectively influences the functions and activities of a businessorgnasiation.It includes factors like customers, suppliers, competitors, laws andregulations, government, employees, investors etc. The present project report is aboutthe General Motors which is giant automobile multinational company based inDetroit, Michigan, United States. It is publicly traded company and is listed onNYSE, S&P 500, 100 Component. The report will highlight various kinds of businessorganization, their size and scope. It will also include how different organizationalfunctions interrelate with each other. Further, a PESTLE and SWOT analysis will beconducted for analyzing the impact of internal and external factors on the functioningof the company.LO 1P1 Different kinds of organizationsSeveral kinds of business organization exists in the business environment. Theseinclude public, private and voluntary sector organizations which are different in termsof their purpose and legal structures. These are as follows: Public companies:These are those companies whose shares are traded freely in the capital market bythe general publicly. It is listed on one or more recognized stock exchange for raisingcapital by selling its shares.Purpose: The purpose of public companies is to enhance and maximize the value ofits shareholders. In other words, the purpose is wealth maximization by increasingprofits and delivering value to the customers (What are the objectives of a publiclimited company, 2018).Legal structure: The legal structure of plc is such that it have a separate legal identityfrom its owners. It requires minimum of £50000 as paid capital. Further, it needs atleast two directors and one company secretary for its Incorporated. The profits of suchcompany are subject to corporation taxes.
