AI Summary
This assignment presents a genogram analysis of the Zhang family, a tool used to understand family history and potential genetic or health-related patterns. The analysis includes a visual representation of the family tree, highlighting relationships, key events, and potential health concerns across three generations. The assignment also discusses the Friedman Family Assessment Model (FAM), a framework for assessing a family as a social system, considering various components such as family composition, boundaries, and social beliefs. The FAM model helps nursing personnel to assess the family system in a whole manner, identify potential stressors, and make informed decisions during assessments. References to relevant literature are also included.

2GENOGRAM ANALYSIS
Genogram
Genogram refers to the one of the most useful tools for analysing the family and the previous history
of the family. It is mainly a pictorial representation of the history of a particular family. Not only, the family
tree, but a typical genogram also reveals any kind of genetic disorders that may present in the family as well.
According to the study of Cross (2014), it is reported that, there are generally three generation in an ideal
genogram of a family. However, there may be more than three generation in a genogram that forms a family
tree in that genogram tree. Moreover, it is also evident that, a genogram analysis of family is very important
for the nursing assessment and a well-structured genogram tree of a particular family will help the nursing
personnel to identify any kind of genotypic or phenotypic expression of a particular trait of that family. The
main reason of using this genogram as a part of the nursing assessment is the very crucial as it is capable of
providing data related to the detailed information of a particular family (Di Fabio, 2015). Moreover, from a
genogram of a family, the nursing personnel can easily understand the family beliefs, psychological factors,
physiological traits of the family. Along with this, it is also quite evident that by gaining knowledge about a
particular family, the nurse will make proper decision during the assessment and thereby the nurse can make
the other family members aware about the risk factors of a particular disease or trait present in the family
history as well.
Friedman Family Assessment Model (FAM)
In this essay, the Friedman Family Assessment model (FAM) is discussed briefly. The Friedman
assessment model (FAM) is one of the useful for assessing the approach of the family and moreover, it is
also reported that this model analysis the family as a part of the social subsystem. The Friedman
Assessment model (FAM) shows a huge structure function relationship and simultaneously this model also
help to view the family as an open social system. In the external structure of FAM, the structure is
categorized into According to the FAM, there are various components in the FAM and there are mainly 6
components. The components are family composition, rank order, subsystems, gender, sexual orientation
and boundaries. The contextual structure is divided into larger systems and extended family. On the other
hand, the contextual structure of FAM model includes social class, race, ethnicity, spirituality, social believe
of the family (Kaakinen et al., 2018). As per this family assessment model (FAM) allows the nursing

personnel to assess the family system in a whole manner (Kaakinen& Webb, 2017). As per the FAM, it may
be one of the primary reason for having stress for the family and as a nurse this must be considered during
the assessment as well (Kaakinen et al., 2018). Hence, a nursing personnel must consider all the aspects of
the family assessment in order to get actual assessment of the family.
