their quest for love as well as a meaning social position within the American society 6. In his
regard, the two characters of Lorelei and Dorothy present contrasting pictures whereas

on the novel of the same name by the authors Anita Loos and Joseph Fields10. The movie
under discussion here is often seen to a turning point in the genre of musical comedies and
also as the starting point of the illustrious acting career of Marilyn Monroe11.
The strength of the article lies in the fact that the article not only undertakes a detailed
analysis of the movie under discussion but at the same time tries to trace the importance or
the contribution that the movie has made towards the entire genre of the American musical
comedy which was a major genre of movie in the 20th century. The weakness of the article is
the fact that the article dwells too much on the narrative as well as the prominence of the
movie and does not shed any light on the themes of the movie.
