350.org is an organization working to address the climate related problems. It has an
international presence. It aims to stop the usage of fossil fuels and also wants usage of
renewable energy sources at a global level. The safe limit for carbon dioxide has been
identified as 350 parts per million ( ppm ) but it is 415 ppm at present.
350.org is an organisation that focuses on the climate change globally. The main focus of the
organization is to decrease the use of fossil fuels and to increase the use of renewable energy
resources. They keep a regular check on the environmental changes globally and let the
international organizations and the world leaders accountable for such changes by giving
them the correct facts as well as figures. This organization was founded in the year 2007. Its
headquarters was in Oakland.
The major purpose of this organization is to reduce the emission of carbon dioxide. It also
received the award of Right Livelihood. As the name suggests, 350 here comes from the 350
ppm of carbon dioxide which is he safe limit of that in the environment. It has a global
presence with the volunteers present in around 188 countries. It runs the campaigns ranging
from local to global level. Some of the campaigns are fossil fuel divestment, keystone XL
pipeline and fossil fuel bans.
There are around 300 organisations across the globe, which are associated with 350.org
which makes the organisation easy to spread the word globally.
