It is important to understand the requirements of students and learners in order to properly teach
the students to help them learn about a particular subject. The learners in this class are all
between the age group of 18 and 21 years. Age group of students and learners is equally
important for the teachers to provide effective learning sessions to the students (Desai, 2017).
Johnston- Wilder and John Mason in the book Developing Thinking in Geometry, has
described that interests in shapes and sizes can take human beings even to the moon just to
measure its circumference. With the objective of providing all aspects of size and shapes relating
to Geometry the book Developing Thinking in Geometry has been authored. Encouraging and
motivating the learners to learn about different sizes and shapes is the primary objective of the
teacher here.
The learners are basically at the middle stage of learning where they have gathered
significant experience in mathematics and geometry but there are still lots to learn. The learners
have learned the primary, intermediary and middle levels in both mathematics as well as
geometry. However, the objective behind introducing parallelogram to the learners at this stage
is to explain to the students about the various features and characteristics of parallelogram. The
objectives behind learning about parallelogram are as following:
I. Understand about the properties of parallelogram: The students would learn about the use of
angles and different sides in quadrilateral.
II. Understand about the diagonals and transversals: To learn about diagonals and transversals of
parallelograms.
III. Practicing drawing the opposite sides: To practice drawing opposite sides of parallelogram.
