Global citizen a person who is aware and understands the world and place in it, global
citizenship is a kind of idea in which all people have rights and civic responsibilities which come
with being as a member of world. Global citizenship is all about encouraging people to increase
their knowledge values, skills etc which they to get engaged with the world (Dower and
Williams, 2016). It is the concept that has been produced a varied and contested understandings
associated with national and international citizenship. Global citizenship involves three
dimensions such as awareness, participation and responsibility. Global citizen has to understand
and ensure that there should not exist any tension between moral obligations and nationalist
sense of duty to the rest of the world (O'Byrne, 2017.). Global citizenship involves the personal
respect and respect for others where ever a person lives. Exploring global citizenship can help
learners grow more confident in order to stand up for their beliefs, values, skills in evaluating the
ethics which have an impact on their decisions. Global citizenship also encourages an individual
deeply about what is equitable and juts in the world and how to minimise the harmful factors for
our planet (Dutta, R, 2017.). It can help in dealing with global issues like global interdependence,
sustainable development, peace and conflict, inequities of power, diversity and cultures, resource
and respect. So, Global citizenship is a emerging idea of 21st century which has got some certain
principles of global responsibility and accountability which can be applied every day in our day
to lives across the globe.
