INTRODUCTION
Events are held to communicate certain information, messages, ideas to target people. It
is organised through proper planning, strategies and consists if various procedures (Anantharam
and et. al., 2015)There are several countries in the world who are engaged in hosting &
organising events on a regular basis. They may be small private events companies, medium or
large-scale global events businesses. There are many small scale event business concerns than
large ones in the society. Global events has an impact on community, economy, tourism and
other factors of the social group. Event management refers to organisations that executes their
tasks only at the places where they earn large amount of profits. These firms get payment for the
services offered by them in the environment. In this study, the diversity of global events,
elements that encourage their development globally, roles of this business commercials, effect of
these events in their operating environment and the strategies that support these events has been
discussed.
TASK 1
P1 Examining the diverseness of global events industry with structure & organisation and roles
of various types of events in society
Every event is organised with particular objectives. It may be to serve an exchange of
data, update the participants with recent changes. Some of them are driven by profit and rest are
held for the welfare of human being (Bobrov and et. al., 2016). Events can be classified into
various types according to goals and profits. They are provided as under-
Various types of events:-
a)By size-
Local/ Community events- It is any kind of planned gathering for social prosperity or
well-being which includes 50 or more individuals or it may be any sized event that blocks right
to public property. Planned marches and demonstrations are examples if this type.
Major events- They are carried on to bring important economic benefits in the cities,
countries and various regions. Many private sector businessmen participates in these events to
bring out economic development in the area. For instance, sports, cultural festivals, east coast
music awards are major ones.

Hallmark events- It functions to provide the community an opportunity to earn in the
tourism market area (Claar and et. al., 2018). Major fairs, cultural as well as sporting event of
international position and expositions comes under hallmark tourists events.
Mega events- These are the events which are larger than the general events. They are of
different dimensions. It may include sporting events that are one time events on an international
level. It covers high media and influence tourism, infrastructure and economy of the organising
country. Olympics are regarded as mega events.
b)By Form-
Cultural events- These events relate to particular culture and represent music, art and
other things of that culture. Examples of this events consists of Wight literary festival, Fowey
festival, Leicester literary festival, etc.
Sports events- They are organised to promote sports in the world and develop the skills
and relations among the participants (Cohn, 2016). It includes different sports and participants
from across geographical locations. Sports events are held for multiple days. Olympics is the best
example of this type of event.
Business events- It refers to significant happenings in which several parts of businesses
must participate to work on several applications to grow and develop in the market. For example
it includes Seminars, conferences, trade shows, product launch events, etc.
Structure and components of event industry-
Event management companies- These are the firms which provides best tips for
managing the events. They use the organisational and business management skills in visualizing,
planning and implementing different types of events.
Events industry- It alludes one person or several planners and large firms which comes
together with common passion of organising and managing the events. The performers in this
industry are event management consultants, corporations, news media, NGOs, advertising
agencies, etc.
Suppliers- They are the supply chain of event management firms and assists them in
achieving the targets and success in the events. Suppliers are also termed as event vendors and
sells the services in or after the events.
Industry associations- They are the groups or an organisation which provides support to
the industry and the members to defend their rights as well as perform their activities efficiently

Event management companies organises various events around the world. There are
many factors that impacts the working of this industry (Cvetkovich, 2018). It directly affects the
growth and development of the organisations. These factors can be understood through the

Events are impacted positively and negatively by various factors. It is the accountability
of the event management to attract the elements that has positive impact on the business and
discourage the negative factors (De Mooij, 2019). Proper strategy and planning is needed in
order to grow the concern continuously in the market. Following are the impacts of the global
events on the environment-
Social & cultural events:- Events can influence the pride of the community, introduce
new challenges, ideas and regenerate the traditions of the society through sports type of events. It
can also encourage the criminal activities in the crowded places and affect the well-being of the
community. For instance, increase in the usage of cars in the events can disturb the traffic and
the residents, raise the costs of products and services and thereby affect the low income earning
groups.
Political impacts – The policies of government plays major role in the operational
activity of event. Therefore, event manager considers the rules of the state before planning the
event. The workings of events are affected by the politics as it provides an opportunity to
politician and rich class to showcase the powers and gain support of people. For example, in
Germany Hitler used rallies to encourage aggression as well as nationalism in citizens.
Environmental impacts- An event management company has to take into account the
elements like impact of events on the environment and its constituents (Dennis, Gillespie and
O'Loughlin, 2015). For example, an event manager should select appropriate places for event so
that it do not destroy the surroundings. Sports event should be held in stadiums and grounds,
business events in small auditoriums and cultural ones in large space to avoid the negative
impact on the environment. Crowd movement, sound pollution, vehicles parking and waste
disposals should be properly managed.
Tourism & economic impacts- These events provides monetary benefits to the country
like foreign direct investment, generation of income & employment and are considered as
positive impacts. It boosts the local businesses, market activities and raises the standard of living

planning. It needs proper strategies to manage risks and organise events that provides productive
results without causing any harm to the environment (Eitel and et. al., 2015). Various risks
related with global events includes any injury to the employees, damage to establishment's
reputation, weather uncertainties, financial challenges, criminal activities, etc. A prosperous
event planning should discover all these risks prior to the occurrence and control all the factors
which hampers its development. Event organisations are responsible to manage their programs
impacts, advise , encourage several businesses and event organisers. It will be possible only
through the proper application of management strategies provided as under:-
Management tactics utilised for measuring several impacts-
Corporate environmental management model:-
This model provides assistance to event manager to make strategy in order to manage the
negative impact of program on natural environment and its resources. It aligns the objectives of
businesses with the well being of environment (Hughes and et. al., 2017). Through the
application of this model global event company can discover, assess and measure the available
sources for gaining competitive advantage as well as incorporate environmental goals. For

It can be summarised that global industry is categorised into various sizes and forms like
local, hallmark, mega, cultural, music, sports events, etc. Event businesses consists of elements
like event management firms, locations, suppliers, associations and the organisations. It performs
different functions in the society. There are several factors in the environment which affects the
growth and contribution of the event management companies. Every event exerts a positive or
negative influence on social, cultural, physical, political, economic and environmental factors.
