Summary of the article
Agricultural development is aiming to reduce the poverty and is aiming to feed about 9.7
billion of people by 2050. In most of the developing or undeveloped countries, agriculture is one
of the main tools that have increased the growth of GDP. In 2016, the 65% of poor working
people is earning their livelihoods through participating in the agricultural sectors. The
development of the economic growth and poverty reduction through agriculture is risk, as the
environmental factors will be having huge impact. Agriculture forest and changes in land use are
mainly responsible for 25% of the greenhouse gas emissions. The World Bank report tells a
different story. In 2016, around 804 million of people were hungry and unnourished and the
number increased to 821 million in 20171. The article is claiming the fact that agricultural
products need to be climatic smart so that the environmental hazards should not damage the
crops. Not only this, the agro-based products should also identify the job opportunities for both
youth and women.
Solving problems
In 2018, about 93 projects helped about 5.6 million farmers to increase their assets and
services. About 2 million farmers have improved their technologies that they are using in the
production of the agricultural goods. The investment from the International Finance
Corporation’s (IFC) directly goes into the development of agribusiness, banks for agriculture and
many more. Investment is worth US$ 4.5 billion2.

Key points from the article
It has been seen that indulgent in the agro based business is increasing the participation of
investors and it has been seen that in many villages the villagers are indulging in the savings
through the investments in the agro based sectors. In Afghanistan, since 2010, about 50% of the
women are joining the savings group in 694 villages. The group saved more than US$ 5.2
million and provided loans to about 41,900 individuals. Another instance of fighting with
poverty can be found in Bolivia where, the community investments has successfully helped in
fighting poverty for about 281,000 small landowners especially the indigenous group of
peoples3.
Research questions
The article will be aiming to increase the study into further directions claiming that
policies of the agro based industries is helping in the development of the savings group and in
many developing and undeveloped economies is getting innovations in the improvement of the
technologies that are being used in the agriculture 4. This is an important aspect in the sense that
though the policies that are aiming to minimize the poverty but it is not so helpful due to certain
reasons in the sense that less developed nations are not being able to use modern tools and

poverty is good but the products being less inelastic in nature is not generating huge revenue
from the international market5.
Specific recommendations
In order to protect the primary sector from the external threats, the government needs to
highlight the policies that will allow them to protect the sector. Through an extensive set of
policies, the government needs to protect the agriculture sector. The government needs to
provide the subsidy to this sector so that the sector can increase the development of the resource
and providing education and soft training will allow the employees to indulge in the development
of the better involvement of the activities. This is going to identify the pros and cons that is
prevailing in the agriculture sector. It is important for the development of better policies that will
be looking to introduce the agricultural sector but will also increase the effectiveness of the
employees to increase the resource capitalization.
Research analysis
Through the introduction of better innovations in the technologies, it is important for the
banks and other financial institutes to step up and provide better solutions to the problems. In
Burkina Faso between 2007-2017, a bank-financed project helped more than 385000 people in
improving the poultry, onion and mango firms. In China, since 2014, a bank financed project
helped in developing climate smart products. Better water efficiency process has been initiated in
more than 440000 hectors of land.

Reflection
I believe that bringing better innovations in the development of the technologies will
definitely bring the better method of business taking the agricultures and the agro based
products. This is one of the important aspect in the sense that involving better improvement in
the technologies and using government support the sector will grow in future.
