6 (a) Mode of transport and equipment
Meat or beef products will be frozen after processing and before shipment to the distribution
centers to prevent spoilage and to invade of pathogens. The process of transportation or shipment
requires effective maintenance of temperatures to prevent wastage and contamination. The
Ryding-Regency Meat Packers Ltd will have used the intermodal transport system, mainly trucks
and trains to transport beef products to the Wisconsin correctional facilities. The use of trucks
and trails are more preferred because they use containers to ship the beef products in safe
conditions, as shown in the picture below.
Rail transport is
preferred since it can ship huge loads or many containers than in road transport or air. The mode
of transport has a great intermodal link, which saves costs. The transportation process poses less
interference since there is only a one-way journey (Estrada-Flores, 2016). Beef products should
be delivered to the facilities within the shortest time possible. The equipment used for
transporting the beef products includes pallets, boxes, casings and crates, which are packaged in
the containers which the trucks carry or on the trains. These equipment regulate the conditions of
the meat to ensure it is in safe conditions even after reaching the facilities.
(b) Legal considerations for products recall
The legal considerations which Ryding-Regency Meat Packers Ltd has to consider the safety
guidelines enacted at the government of the USA, which is called statutes elaborating the
procedures to be taken by any company recalling its products from the markets. The regulations
provided by Wisconsin and the industry it serves need to adhere to when recalling the products.
These legal considerations are vital since there is a possibility of various litigations arising from
the claims as well as lawsuits. The claims may be a result of an injury from the customers or the
losses the entities may have incurred.
7 (a) Transportation of contaminated beef products from Wisconsin facilities to Canada.
The contaminated meat will be loaded into the insulated containers which have sealed lids, or
they can use shipping bags to put the meat inside then load it into the containers. The covers will
be fastened before transportation commences. The labeled containers will be carried by the
trucks through the means of the road (Ryan, 2017). Also, the contaminated meat products will be
transported through the rails. The trucks will be carrying the consignment and convey it for trains
to finalize the journey.
