GLOBAL SUSTAINABILITY AND INNOVATION
Innovation is surely one of the essential components in the sustainability of business
opportunities in the market (Edquist 2013). I, in my learning module have learnt a lot about
the innovation ideas and the theories of global sustainability associated with the same. The
base of innovation is creativity which has its own set of positive and negative implications.
Creativity helps to make the working environment of a company better and helps to make
sure that the technological process assigned to the same is done in a better way (Collins
2010). Creativity is one of the basic necessities in a working process but the fear to make
mistakes in the process makes people drift far away from the same. The necessity of
creativity can be seen in the fact that it determines the way of thinking of an individual. The
concept of creativity dates back to the creation of God which says that nothing is permanent
except change. I as a worker have seen this in various parts of my curriculum and have
measured this in different parts of the assignment. Creativity and innovation are interrelated
according to me which is evident in the concepts and the theories of a number of scholars like
Henri Poincaré, Max Wertheimer, Joy Paul Guilford, Gregory Bateson, Umberto Galimberti
and others. All of them have different concepts related to the theory of change and innovation
in the different work sectors. According to me, they are correct in their approaches as one of
the basic ways to innovate in order to create the new things in the life is to mix the new
elements with the existing ones. Thinking plays a major role in the innovation process which
I have learnt in my module and can be differentiated into convergent and divergent thinking
modules. Interdisciplinary and creative thinking are correlated to each other making the
process of innovation one of the pivotal in the concepts. According to my readings, the
factors that motivate innovation are fluidity, flexibility, originality and processing that helps
to measure the amount of innovation that is being done in the work place innovation sector
(Glor 2014). From forming creative and intangible ideas to measuring and implementing
them into realistic innovation, the relation between creativity and innovation is wholesome
and can be traced to measure the various kinds of results associated. In the learning process, I
have learnt about the various types of creativity and the various ways and work processes in
which it is done. In addition, in my learning process, I have learnt about the brain and its
functions along with the various structures and functions associated with the same. A major
study related to the brain and its relation to intelligence has also been mentioned in my
learning assignments. Another fact that is being associated in my module is the relation
between emotion and creation with the different brain functions. Creative thinking and the
problem associated with this related to innovation is also included in the module that is being
associated with divergent and lateral thinking to make the relation more implacable (Cassell
